Any default stock that uses the genpasswagsteam.sms sounds should get the new bogiecoach sounds after the basic install. I have not checked the Scotsman wag files, but I'd be surprised if they use something different.
The first thing that comes to mind is whether you have the sound sliders in your settings all maxed out. However, Stuart is probably the best person to help, since he's a wizard at troubleshooting these types of problems.

Actually, the scotsman coaches use:
scotscar1.wag - FSWag1.sms
scotscar3.wag - FSWag3.sms
scotsmailcar.wag - FSWagM.sms.
Just open each one with Wordpad, go to the Sound statement at the bottom of the file and substitute genpasswagsteam.sms for each of the above.
Don't forget to back up the originals first
scotscar1.wag - FSWag1.sms
scotscar3.wag - FSWag3.sms
scotsmailcar.wag - FSWagM.sms.

Thanks Deltic9000! I would have checked myself, but I'm at work and don't have access to MSTS right now.
By the way,if you are changing the wag files anyway, you might consider using the advanced install instructions in the readme, as you can get the door slam sounds and apply a different sound set to an end coach in a consist.

Hi 37057,
Since the Scotsman has its own sms files and sounds in the trainset folder, the solution is a bit more complicated. I can think of a few solutions, but they involve creating a lot of copies of files. I have sent a PM to Stuart Williamson, who is better able than I to provide the best solution. No doubt he will respond soon.
At this time I would not recommend renaming any wav files, as the triggers would be different (you would probably get our fast and slow sounds mixing randomly
).

37057,
The simplist (well second simplist) answer is to do what Deltic9000 has suggested. (The simplist is to get someone to e-mail the you edited files!).
Have a go at it yourself though, as editing the config files in MSTS is the only way to improve things and is an ability everyone really needs to have.
Wordpad is found by Start/Programs/Assessories. You need to use it because the files are in unicode format.
From inside Wordpad open the first of the files that Deltic9000 has listed. Scroll down to the bottom of the file and you will see a line like
Sound ( fswag1.sms )
Edit this to read
Sound ( genpasswagsteam.sms )
then save the file, saying yes to any prompts. Do the same to the others files. Thats it!
Post back on how you get on.
Stuart

Okay, try this. You know how to rename files, yes? Well, simply rename the Scotsman coach sounds to something else, may i suggest FSWag1_old etc? Then, rename the new sounds to FSWag1 etc, and copy them to the Scotsman sounds directory! Then you should have the required sounds on the required vehicles.
