Seems a unusual line to choose as it doesnt give much scope for activities

It's an addon to the WCE route, adds extra milage.

I know its an addon. The X-City line is a self-contained opearation with services between Lichfield and Redditch. Not much else uses the line so hence why I think it has limited appeal

I think you will find there will be a 3rd addon going beyond Litchfield so it's probably to link with Part 1 and Part 3 a bit like ECE from Kings Cross-Peterborough, Part2 Peterborough - York and Part 3 Doncaster-Leeds-York.
As far as I see it's just away of Europeanbahn getting more money out you.
I will probably buy part 1 as I have LSC,and ECE parts 1&2, due to the fact I can run their routes on my clappled out computer, come to that a bit like me.

Extending the WCML to somewhere like Manchester which was mentioned before would appeal to me more

I'm actually looking more forward to the release of the Hertford Loop, with the West Coast release a close second behind it.
I'm just curious if we will see parts 2 and 3 for the West Coast mainly because it was done that way for the East Coast doesn't automatically mean that the West Coast will get the same treatment.
Edit: to see the West Coast product expanded to Carlisle would be good but Preston would be just as good.

Not too certain what area will be covered but the XCity but could hold some interesting extra trains -- South side (where I live) Cross Country services between Barnt Green and New Street - plus frieghts etc using the Camp Hill line from Kings Norton and on the North side traffic avoiding New Street in the Aston area

Not sure if you know this already, but there is an excellent version of this available for BVE, well at least Redditch to BNS,
