I wasn't sure where to put this, so Mods please feel free to move this thread if it is in the wrong place.
I have a strange problem and I was wondering if anyone else could help. When a loco is static/unmoving the graphics display almost perfectly (apart from a few minor glitches I assume we all have.
However, when the loco moves white shapes appear briefly but frequently on the screen in different locations on screen.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Also, every time I run MSTS I have to reinstall DirectX8a (came with the game) or my keyboard controls don't work.
Any ideas?
Thanks
natty

That is the reason I'm sticking to XP at present, I have also found a couple of companies that will sell you a new computer with XP loaded instead of Vista.I think Dell will still supply XP.
I never trusted VISTA from the start after reading the problems with it, also it is not only MSTS that has problems with VISTA, my other 2 Railway sims also have problems they SimSig and PC Rail.

A little bit of tweaking here and tweaking there and MSTS runs OK on my Vista setup. Apart from the difference in frame rates between XP and Vista, when driving a train, there seems to be no advantage in doing everything in XP. I have found that with Vista the route editor is more forgiving and when you do do something idiotic at least you are returned to the desktop instead of the nausea of a blackout and resultant reboot from the computer reset button.
Six months on I am wondering what all the fuss was about, but then if I think about it the same was said when XP first came on the scene.
