Cambrian 2 - 3DTS

There is something amiss with this whole area, could be just the one tile. I have run a train from Welshpool to Shrewsbury and on approaching MP 6.0 exactly the same, this time I got a send to Bill Gates, so at least was returned to the desktop.

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

John, I just tried running from Shrewsbury to Welshpool in Explore Mode and indeed all was not well. At milepost three I very suddenly lost all graphics and was presented with a totally black screen though the sound continues normally.

It was necessary to reset the PC as I couldn't recover from the crash. So far, six years on into MSTS, I have never encountered this particular set of circumstances at all. Could it be a graphics card/driver issue? It will be interesting to see what others report.

I'm getting the same problem approaching milepost 3 - black screen with sounds continuing. Ctrl-Alt-Delete gets me to Task Manager to close down MSTS.

I've just run this through the latest Routeriter, which found and corrected a lot of soundsource errors - as these are notorious for killing MSTS I'll give Shrewsbury to Welshpool another go.

OK - it still crashes to a black screen at the same point just before milepost 3, and running from Welshpool to Shrewsbury the same problem between mileposts 7 and 6. I'm running Bin 1.07.0519 and through Easy Trainstore to reduce the load.

Same for me at the same place. Complete black out and then had to Ctrl-Alt-Del to recover

My first impressions. Marvellous!! It has that sturdy 3DTS feel about it and gives the imprssion that a lot of work has gone into getting the atmosphere just right.
I'm a bit surprised at the lack of scope in the activities though. What I mean is that all the supplied activities seem to concentrate on areas previously represented by the original Cambrian Coast rather than any that run over the new sections of the route but I'm sure people that know the area better than me will soon put that to rights.
Anyways. On with the driving.

Michael, you're correct about the activities which is why I immediately created one, Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth, only to run into the problem detailed earlier in this thread.

I received my Cambrian 2 route at 7.30 am this morning.
It had been posted in the USA on 11th August!!
Put it into my disc drive and waited until eventually it started to load.
I then washed shaved and dressed and went back to the PC.
It was STILL loading!
After about half an hour in total, it finished, and as I switched it off, the Read Me file appeared without help from me.
I tried to add a new routine, (Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth) later that morning but it obviously didn't like it and the dreaded 'Tell Microsoft' appeared.
This afternoon I turned it on again, chose the first item on the list and got the 'Train Installation failed' message.
At the moment I am reinstalling it!

I have just done a run from Welshpool to Oswestry, on the approach to MP 19 at Oswestry South exactly the same hang up as for Shrewsbury-Welshpool. This time though you can see the whiteout area ahead, but don't in fact reach it, just a send to Bill Gates.
