passenger view sounds

Post by SteelixB »

Is there any way to get the engine sounds in a passenger view? You can always hear the engine when you're in a DMU or the motor coach of other trains e.g. the 'driving motor standard' of the pendolino.

Ive been wanting to work out how to do the same thing and I havnt got very far. As far as I can gather the only thing that can be played in the passenger view is one or two loops, so unless you recorded an engine sound into those loops then I'm lost for Ideas.
Arriva aren't that bad, are they?

This can be done. My 2 Cylinder Sound set comes with sms files ready changed so as to enable either the CabView or ExternalView sounds in the Passenger view.

Firstly, open the .eng file of the rolling stock item concerned for editing. Scroll down to the Inside() section and delete the whole Sound () line. (Trust me this does make sence!). Scroll down a bit further to find the next Sound () line, which must be before the start of the main Engine () section. Chage the file name in this Sound() section slightly, ie if it was "kihaeng.sms" change it to "kihaengpas.sms". Remember these file names. Save the edited .eng file.

Secondly, make a copy of the Sound() file with the unchanged name, ie if it was "kihaeng.sms" make a copy, and rename it to the same as the edited name ie "kihaengpas.sms". Open this file for editing. Near the beginning there is an Activation () section and a Deactivation section. Cut the PassengerView () line from the Deactivation section and paste it in the Activation section, below the ExternalView () line. Save the file.

Now run train and you will now hear in the Key5 view what your would hear in the Key2, 3, & 4 views.

If I make a pass view for my 321 this will come in handy, thanks  .
