Thank You

Post by michaelhendle »

I would like to say thank you to Europeanbahn for helping me get London South Coast to work, after I lost the code that has to be typed in to get the route to load.

I have backdated it to the sixties, I have kept the activities but changed the stock to the 6 PAN/PUL and City set's, the 4 Bufs/Res/Cor's, 2 Bils, and green 4 Cig's ,2 HAP's and 2 EPB's and a 207 Demu's.What's needed now is a 2 Nol, and 2 HAL.

Have changed the road vehicles to 60's era, I found the Holden a good substitute for a Vauxhaul Cresta, I can remember pink/white one's, I was just wondering if there is a Triumph Herald, or a MG Midget as I owned both of these in the sixties.Aslo using the London RT and RF buses, that I downloaded from this site.

I have downloaded a Lockheed Constilation to change the Aircraft but I can't find a REF file to do the changes needed.

Thanks also to every one who have helped me over the last couple of month's with answers to the various questions I have asked.

What is the Vauxhaul Cresta?

There is a Corsa or Cavalier.

Does this bring back any memories - there's a Vauxhall in there.

Please have a look at my railway photograph site - http://alan-lewis-chambers.fotopic.net/ - lots of British steam and early diesels

And a Vauxhall Victor, a Morris Oxford Cowley, Ford Consul Mark1, Standard Vanguard and finally a Ford Prefect.

Great Western? Is'nt that the branch line that joins the Southern at Reading?

Hi Alan,

I think the car coming under the bridge is a Standard Vangaurd, the Black car in the parked cars is a Vauxhall Wyvern, then there is also a Ford Prefect or it could be a mk1 Ford Consul.

I think the others are a Standard 10 and the 2 tone one is either a Vauxhall Cresta or it could be a Ford Zepher/Zodiac(I'd say it's Cresta), the one on the far right I think is an Austin, bike a Raliegh.

Rowan the Vauxhall Cresta was built in the 1960's along with the Vauxhall Victor and Viva both the Victor and Viva were rust buckets.

The Vauxhall Wyvern dates from the 1950's, all those cars in Alan's photo's date from the 40's/50's and 60's.

Help I'm showing my age as I remember all of them.

Looks like photo is some where in the East End of London

Here's my guess,
The first on the left looks big enough to be a Yank,
2nd Morris Oxford,
3rd could be a Velox,
4th Ford Consul, Zephyr Zodiac Mark1,
The other two, no idea.

The East End bit is right - I took this east of Bethnal Green with the N7 heading from Liverpool Street towards Stratford.

As for the cars - I'm pretty sure from the left they are an (English) Ford Zodiac, Standard 10, Vauxhall Wyvern, Standard Vanguard and an Austin 12 (not mine, but my first, shared, car was a 1937 one of these). Not sure about the bike!

And the date - April 2nd 1960 - when I was 16.

More on my website, but you probably know that by now.

I recognised an N7, a Gresley steel brake second and a 350.

Oh ... and some cars.

My Dad's first car. A great tank of a thing, but it could still do close to 100mph. Once he raced it across the Salisbury Plain against my brothers motorbike (a Triumph something or other), and although it couldnt match the bikes acceleration it could easily match its top speed :)

Useless on hills though :( and i remember one holiday in Devon where we had to drive a mile or so the wrong way from where we were staying in order to get a long enough run at the hill. Hitting the bottom at around 75mph we could just make the top going at about 5mph, but heaven help anyone else coming the opposite way. If we had to stop we had to back all the way down and have another run.

It finally died on Clapham Common on a wet and windy July night (bit like now really ;) ) on the way home from another Devon holiday.
