Irish Enterprise South update

Post by rowan826 »

I have just looked on the Making Tracks website to see more details about this forthcoming route.

Making Tracks website says:
Release was originally pencilled in for 1st Quarter 2007, but as ever things are running late. The route is now basically complete, the acts written and the stock at the final stages. As soon as we have a release date we'll let you know.
Will this be released in 3rd Quarter 2007?

The last email I received from Gordon was to expect a copy late July. So you may be fortunate enough to see it released in Q3.

I can't wait for it.
Must admit through that if, as it appears, they've included a load of unrelated Dublin suburban track in it, yet not finished the last few miles of the mainline (bangor-belfast) I will feel a tad let down.

I think you will find if you want to go all the way to Belfast you have to have Enterprise Part 1 as it's supposed to link up with it, similar to EB's ECE.

Already got part one. And I loves it.
The class80/450's (80's I think, as they are slammers) sound and look perfect.
I grew up around Crawfordsburn halt, which was located about half way between Helens Bay and Carnalea, and served crawfordsburn hospital and the country park. When the hossy closed, the halt did too, then it was ripped up when NiR upgraded to Welded track, as it was used as the engineering base.

I spent far too long playing round the station, watching everything, can still VIVIDLY remember seeing the maroon with yellow V Enterprise stock tearing through on a run into bangor in about 76 or 77 I think.

We gooned about near the railway so much that I firmly believe I'd have been mincemeat if I lived on the mainland with fast and quiet trains. You could wander along the tracks and hear trains 3 miles away, and get well clear, usually far too early.
Hence my burning urge for the last stretch to Bangor, that and the fact that MP0 is Bangor platform, which is about 200m from where I'm typing this.

If you want to keep up to date on what's happening with Enterprise V2 subscribe to MakingTracks newsletter. It's free.

Just to clarify a few points, the route is finished and so are the activities. Just some tweaking of stock to do, then some final testing. So you should not have to hold your breath much longer.

The priority for V2 was to get to Dublin naturally. The opportunity was taken to include the Navan, Howth, Northwall and dock tramway branches as well, giving activity writers a greater scope. Also I managed to squeeze in Tara St station on the Dart line, so those services did not have to start or terminate at Connolly.

The north end of the line has received some additions and corrections, just to mention a few :- City Jn now has the correct point geometry. Portadown station alignment has been corrected. York Rd and Fortwilliam depots are there too allowing prototypical activities. Yorkgate station too. As for the Bangor branch this has been planned for quite some time. I have a DVD which contains a complete survey of the branch i.e. maps, photos, track diagrams etc. After a short break from route building I'll start on it. I'm not going to give a timescale so don't ask, just hold your breath :) By the way if anyone can help out with photos of the new Bangor buildings I would be much obliged.
