I have now recovered from my trip to the UK and am once again able to support Route_Riter fully.

I have posted an update to v7.0.31 on my site today, if anyone still has unresolved problems with the program, please send me full details to my normal email address and I will attempt to fix them. I lost some emails while I was away, so if anything is still outstanding, please repeat your query or it will not be answered, sorry about that.

Similarly any suggestions for new features are always welcome.

In terms of a new feature, Mike, may I make a request please? One of RR's best features for me is the 'check activities' function, and then we've all spent many happy hours getting rid of all those pink cells as we replace missing stock. What would be very, very useful is a function to replace a missing piece of stock globally, ie in all activities. For example if you get a route CD with stock, you might not want the class 47 or whatever that came on the CD as you already have several in your trainset folder; but that 47 features on heaven-knows-how-many activities on the CD, and the ability to replace them all with a couple of clicks would be a big improvement on having to update each consist individually.

Agreed with the above. Another idea would be some kind of direct integration with UKTS, that would be awesome. Some multi-file downloader then installer sort of thing


eg.

You select route from directory,
RouteRiter downloads it
RouteRiter extracts zip to MSTS directory, runs the bat file and then checks the route, before giving it the OK

You mean like Content Manager Plus in Trainz?

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look at the Activity checking first as that looks possible.

The download manager type of option is probably beyond my abilities, but I will think about it.

I tried to do this for someone else, but it was not very successful, I will have another think about this one, it will need the routines re-written as last time I made a real hash of it

One of the things I notice when I check loco sms files is that almost every European diesel and electric loco coupling sound uses couple_auto. This should obviously be couple_chain.

(And US steam uses couple chain.)

There are too many locos to manually change this.
Would it be possible to add a change option to the Check rolling Stock page?

Thanks for all the help from various users, I have uploaded v7.0.34 update to my site, and it includes the following:-

The following new items have been added following suggestions received from train-sim.com and uktrainsim.com last week:-

1. Run Check Activities then Check Consists and you can right click on any .eng/.wag to change it - A new checkbox has been added to the Substitute Rolling Stock screen which allows users to substitute a new .eng or .wag file in ALL Consist and Activity files.

2. A new button allowing you to just check the Activities in a selected route has been added.

3. In the REF file editor, the 'Add Unreferenced Shapes' function had a bug in the description line, this is fixed

4. An option button has been added to the Check Rolling Stock page which allows you to select Locomotive .sms files and do a bulk change from 'couple_auto' to 'couple_chain' - Ian pointed out that many UK Steam/Electric/Diesel locos have chain couplings but the sound files mainly use Automatic coupling sounds, this changes it to Chain.

5. It has been pointed out that I was using the incorrect parameters for MSTS mapping in the option to convert Google .kml files to MSTS .mkr files - This has been corrected.

Please advise of any problems or additional suggestions.

Mike, can you explain what was wrong with the previous conversion? I hope the markers didn't end up in the wrong place?

If you open up a Google Earth .kml file in a text editor and have a look at it, each point has an entry like:-

I was using the Longitude and Latitude entries for the .mkr file, but have been advised that to correctly place the items on a MSTS route, especially if using DEM data that the entries under Coordinates are the ones which should be used.

As you will see, the differences are only after the 5th decimal place, but that is still quite a few metres in real life, and probably depends on the Lat/Long as well.

I installed the latest patch from your website and re-ran the marker conversion. I'm glad to say that I couldn't see much of a difference in their location, if any at all.
