If you are a supporter of ConBuilder you already know this, for all others, I quit. No more ConBuilder for me, no more supporting it, no more working on it no more nothing as far as conbuilder and my other stuff is concerned for me. I have already asked that the web-page be taken down on the 23rd of June. It took me the past 2 months to decide on this. No amount of chatting or e-mailing is going to change my mind.
ConBuilder_lite will stay as it is, free to host wherever.

v2.7.3 is up and it is the last one.

What happens to the full version, do we have to buy before 23rd of June or will it be available after that.

I for one am very sorry to see you quit.

I find it such a shame that recently a lot of fantastic MSTS people (Joe being the latest) are being upset by something or somebody and calling it a day with MSTS.

Joe (and Charles) have made a fantastic contribution to us all over a great number of years and I for one will be very sorry if he calls it day. I don't know what the problems are but hopes he will reconsider, although reading his web page that does not seem very likely.

Conbuilder is up there as one of the best (if not the best) Tools being made available to us.

This will be another great loss to the Community.

To answer your questions directly. Yes. As I understand Joe you have to buy it before then. No, it will not be available after that.

As to the ConBuilder Support Forum it is registered in my name. I have not quit. Although I am unable to provide coding support and program upgrades, it is my intention to continue to provide the current with technical support to the best of my ability.

Ive never used it, nor ever felt the need to, as ive always been happy using the MSTS editor for the purpose, but it is sad when people who have done much for the community feel the need to quit and withdraw their work. I havent any idea what may have caused Joe to come to his decision but its a shame nevertheless.

Just to note, there are a few programs which I always use when doing reskins and creating trains, and with over 200 uploaded and countless done for person use and commercial use I always use 3 programs that I got from this site

Route Riter to convert ACE files to tga to work on them.

Shape Viewer to view the textures on the model bit by bit.

Con builder to arrange all the consists correctly for upload


All of the above programs make life easier and simpler when creating trains, so just want to show my apperciation to the authors of the above products.

Just to say that Conbuilder is an essential tool when it comes to checking the rolling stock for the 2 CD's that I have been involved with, and many thanks to Joe for all his hard work in creating and developing this excellent utility over the past few years.

It is a great pity to see Joe feeling it is necessary to quit Conbuilder. I have worked with him for many years now testing both Conbuilder and Route_Riter.

As a user of Conbuilder ever since Carlos Gomes first wrote the original version back around 2002, I have followed its progress with great interest, especially since Joe and Charles did so much work on it in more recent times.

However, as the program is now as bug-free as it is ever likely to be, as long as you have a copy, then all is not lost and you can use it as always until MSTS finally dies.

To all who have not used the Full Conbuilder, I can highly recommend it and the service that the guys give to members. It is certainly one of the payware Utilities worth paying for.

whats the difference between the free one and the pay one?

If you mean between CB Lite and the pay one, the answer is CB Lite has no testing capabilities, no interface with Shape File Viewer, nor most all of the other added features. It only creates consists. And no support is provided.

If you mean the version when ConBuilder was donationware (last ver 2.4.6) and the current 2.7.3 then here are some of the upgrades:
1. Limits have been increased to 10,000 wags and 8,000 engs vs 2,000 and 4,000. v2.4.7
2. Loose Consists have been increased to 150 just like the size of Consists, was 60. v2.5.4
3. Aliasing has had a change so it works better, will be updated again later. v.2.4.7
4. Error mesages have been re-done to be more understandable. all versions.
5. The sound tests have been re-done so they work as the Sim does. v2.6.0
6. Fixed the use of the # sign in names. v2.5.4
7. Fixed the use of comments using the # symbol. v.2.5.4
8. Fixed the placement of the cabview line. v2.4.7
9. Random Consists are also now at 150. v2.4.7
10. Added the correct path for Vista and wordpad. v2.5.6
11. Corrected the text when the mouse is passed over the menu icons. v2.5.5
12. Now adding my small utilites whether CD is purchased or Not.
13. Add capability to Alias AI and Bunit sounds to ENG not just folder. v2.7.0
Also Support is ONLY provided on the private ConBuilder Support forum which purchasers receive access to. Versions prior to 2.4.7 are not supported.

A Huge amount, some features being 3D stock viewer, Random consist maker, Aliasing of Cab and Sounds, Loose consist editor and many more.

I for one find it one of the most useful Utilities available and worth the
payment.
