For me it would have to be

Caldervale
Woodhead
NWE V2.1
Thames-Mersey V4.2
Briscard

Caldervale is the next community route that I'm buying once it's released, :D
I'm looking forward to driving though Accrington to recreate these BR days I spent there.

I'd probably go with most of these, but would include Big Vern's Blackpool in my list as I find it very evocative of the real thing.

My favourite and most often used five routes are:

Bala Hub
Westvale (great piece of work Gary!)
Steyning
LU District Line
Great Eastern

Skipton - Carlisle 1920s only just missed out on my top five and an honourable mention goes to Cross Fell - full of atmosphere and great wide-open scenery!

Hi there,

Douglee's choice is so similar to mine

Burton-Derby
Skipton1920
Cannock Chase
Yorkshire Coast
Romania1
BalaHub

Having said that these are the routes I have enjoyed playing with. There are many other routes I have not even tried or looked at yet, that could be even better. So my 6 could very easily change. There are now so many interesting and diverse routes to choose from. So without offending any route writers whose work I have not mentioned because I have not as yet tried their routes out or are from a different period to what I like to play with.

Thought about this quite a bit - if the question had been my 6 favourite routes, you would have got a very different answer, but for default routes I'd be looking for as much variety as possible to show off what MSTS is capable of. I think the selections below meet this criteria (although choice was extremely hard; any in the reserve team are worthy of the first 6 and there are some excellent routes that didn't make the squad!)

In date order:

Skipton 1920
Burton area 1950's
Rollbahn 1963
Great Eastern
BNSF Scenic subdivision
Dorset Coast

Reserve team:

Steyning
Cambrian
Moselbahn
Rogers Pass
Thames-Mersey
Bernina Express

Cheers,

Tim

A nice mix would be
Dorset Coast. Big and modern.
Skipton to Carlisle 1920. Nice period steam.
District Line. London underground.
TSUK Fylde. Blackpool electric trams.
Ffestiniog or Talyllyn. Good narrow gauge.
And lastly, for that something different feel. When it comes out.
NSWGR - Northern Illawarra - Waterfall to Wollongong.

OK, sticking to the concept of two routes from Europe, two from the USA and two from Asia:

Asia:
-JR Limited Express
-Hisatsu Line (one of the best of the default routes, if you ask me)

Europe:
-Settle & Carlisle 1930s
-Legenden Zwischen Spree und Oder

America:
-SLI's Seligman Sub
-An expanded version of the Northeast Corridor

Mine would be:

Irish Enterprise North
Ballyshannon
Scottish Central
Springfield
Glasgow - Carlisle
Default Settle & Carlisle

May change when Scottish Capital Express comes out
