Whilst waiting for the 17:50(ish) Theale - Paddington service the automated pa system regularly announces "Passengers on platform 2 please stand back, Though train approaching" only for no train to appear.
I presume this in a First Great Western service which has disapeared somewhere or Maybe it's a new stealth train on trial.
Any thoughts? - What triggers the pa system to make these announcements?

i think its pre programmed, ie it detects a train and rolls off wot it thinks it should be, if trains get out of sequence then it has to be manually overiden by the station staff, i have been on fratton station late at night when all the station staff have gone home, there is some connex{or who ever they call themselfs now} ecs been through, this triggers the pa system to announce the connex service to where ever it goes then all the trains got out of sequence
Steam trains an art work, not kettle boiling, welsh nuggut burning, moving scrap!!!
