i'm extremely disappointed that there was no west runton in norfolk. that's a true monster of a station... 1 platform... 1 train each way every 2 hours (i'm not sure if that's the peak service...) and they're more than likely a 150/153 in nasty anglia livery.

mmmm....

i'm reaching for the thermos at the thought of it!

You want excitement? Try Denton, between Stockport and Victoria/Stalybridge! 1 train a week, in one direction only. Now thats a service! I saw a pic of the timetable board, with the SO xx:xx to wherever. What a waste of paper.

I woder how many confused Japanese tourists they get there!?!?!

wow. i wonder when the last time anyone used it was...

surely they're wasting fuel/energy actually stopping the thing there!

the best one i've been to was castleconnel in ireland (on the limerick to ballybrophy line). 2 trains a day each way, except sundays when it's one. i actually got a train there from limerick too.

that was an experience. never before have i been on a train where branches brush the windows.

The Denton service is running on a bare minimum to avoid costly and lengthy service withdrawal. It's basically down to the way the rules work. Saves money in the long run so they run a pointless service in the short term...which is what happens when you put accountants in charge of everything.

is it on a line that gets other passenger traffic? or would removing the one train mean closing the line completely.

do they have to keep it maintained to passenger standards?
