PC Performance - Preston
Like most people on here I'm thinking of upgrading my pc. My present "modest" pc gets around 4fps approaching Preston on NWE 2.1. As a guide, I wondered if someone could run that part of the route - preferably approaching from the south - and note the fps (or better still show a pic).
Many thanks for any replies.

Getting about 12-15 ish as I cross the bridge into Preston.
Athlon 2800, 1GB RAM, ASUS GE6800 GT.
Soon to be replaced with an athlon X2 5200 and GE8800GTS...that should make a difference.
BTW, if you can find an ASUS V9999GE on ebay, it'll be the best 50 bills you ever spent, it WAS a £300+ card back in it's day.

OK, I was tweaking today.
Sitting in Preston Station facing the bridge, 20fps, heading out it dropped to a minimum of 12.
After messing with MSTS settings as well as video card shiny options, all I can conclude is that my video card is WAY too good for the rest of my machine. The above scores were 1280x1024 with 16XFSAA and 16XAiF, and all MSTS options maxed. Dropping options and card shiny options did so little for frame rate that I must conclude that my GPU is filing it's nails while my CPU is melting.
athlon xp 32bit 2800
1 GB 400 DDR2
Asus V9999GE Geforce6800GT
Dos XP Pro.
So, Hands up who has a machine that lets them run through Clapham Junction like curry through a poodle at 40FPS?
EDIT: Outside of NASA and the top five Grand Prix teams that is.

I Beleive Sony have built a mainframe that runs at 270 TFlops - That might be able to do itthegoonden wrote:OK, I was tweaking today.
