Highland Mainline CD update

Post by jpantera »

Hello all,

It is with great regret that I have decided not to continue with the Highland Mainline CD project. It has been a long time in the making with very little progress indeed. My time basically is now taken up with Compass Tours which some of you may be aware I joined last year. My brother Kevin who founded Compass has not had the best year health wise meaning the onus has been on myself to keep the ball rolling.

MSTS has always been let down by several bugs, those of you who who have built routes will be fully aware of them rearing their ugly head from time to time. Route building isnt the most relaxing pastime hence why little progress has been made as my 'R&R' time needs to be taken up with something a little less taxing.

I have got much data and research info from the work that has been done so far. A new project with one of the new sims cant be ruled out if time and the editors allow a smoother process end to end.

I must thank all who have helped and offered support and advice particularly RobertM who has helped with testing and completed several enjoyable activities.

Apologies are due for not being able to complete this project but I hope everyone understands my reasons.

On a more positive note RobertM will be compiling current work for a Highland Mainline CD release sometime in the future.

Well, I still enjoy thrashing Sulzers 'up the middle' and what we have at the moment is fantastic - thank you for that!

Best of luck with Compass - just need to get that Peak on a tour or two.... :)

I have booked to go on the Holyhead - Carlisle tour from Bangor on 25th August.

Best luck with Compass Tours.

Thanks for letting us know John, I'm sure we all appreciate your reasons and how frustrating developing for MSTS can be.

Good to hear that the route will see a CD release in the future as it certainly deserves that. Will that version essentially be the download version with activities and stock?

Anyway, good luck with Compass Tours and thanks for all the hard work.

I can only agree with Alister, the Highland Mainline is a great route. I only got round to downloading it a few weeks back, but I've been enjoying it ever since. :)

Best of luck with Compass Tours; the run to Holyhead last month was a fantastic day out, and I'm very much looking forward to the Newcastle trip on May 28th.

I hope Kevin is on the mend as well.

Regards

Jack M.

No need for you to appologise. Highland mainline is fantastic as it stands.

Best wishes to yourself and your brother.

Basically yeah, but with some custom rolling stock though

Highland mainline is a great route as it stands. I often travel to Inverness and I recognise it all.

I think it should get a CD release, it's a lot to download and unzip plus some custom stock and activities would be great too!
