Thames/Mersey activity problem.

Just posting this before going out in the hope of replys when I get back home.

Got my T/M DVD this morning and installed it. Then did the same things I always do when installing a new route ran Route Riter and no problems were report so all OK there.

Then I fired up TrainStore so I could read all the activity discriptions and have a look at the consist`s used.

All was fine until activity 098 Southbound Container PT2

With this when veiwing the consist with TrainStore the loco displays and the friegth wagons display, but where the containers should be there is just big white squares IE the containers are not displaying.

Can anyone tell me how to cure this problem so that the containers display correctly.

Keith,

Thats an easy one. The wagons used in the consist have their loads added as a Freightanim. Neither Trainstore, Shape Viewer nor the MSTS AE will display freightanim objects.

Run the activity and all will be OK, I promise :D

Correction - Trainstore does normally display Freightanims so I do not know what may be causing this problem. I am off to look into it in a bit more detail.

Apologies to Tony for not giving Trainstore the full credit that it deserves.

I expect they are some of my Common.Loads.

The shape files are aliased to the ace files in the commonAce folder.
This allows more than one shape to use the same ace.
With the containers there are different container shapes to suit different wagon hights.

Conbuilder, Shape Viewer and the editor cannot follow this aliasing. That is why I always include thumbnails in my wagon folders.

You may find a folder in some of the folders in the common.loads which are not aliased but I have stopped including them as the Common.Loads folder is getting too big.

Don't worry - the loads will show in the sim.

I can not get to run with the MSTS Bin installed I am sure there are others most run fine, I have uninstalled MSTS Bin and they work so there lies my problem I think

Hi all I did say that the activitys worked fine without the bin patch. I was only pointing out that some activitys dont seam to work with the bin patch installed.

At frist I was begining to think it was my new 10.000 rpm hard drive. I can report much better frame rates. with the new drive.

Thanks all for the advice finally got round tonight to running the activity and all was as it should be.

The only thing I can say about this activity number 098 is that the time stated to complete this activity is very generous with 3 hours 30 mins stated. I completed it in 2 hours 47 mins and 37 seconds without breaking any rules or speed limits and I had green signals all the way.

I must say that a very good job has been made on this route. Even on my old PC I was able to turn the global graphics settings up to 3 notches from maximum and still get a fair frame rate (For me anyway).

Speaking of ConBuilder, the aliasing has been fix, I have not tried your idea though with a common texture folder. How is it fixed up?

As its a freight activity i suspect the author was using a much lower maximum speed for the train than the line speed. Freights are often limited to 45mph, so this would probably explain the difference.

Unfortunately though it looks like he didnt put in any of the features available to force you to maintain that lower speed :(
