Skipton download problem

Post by petermargetts »

Re my previous post I have now found the Skipton route in my listings. It was not under "Skipton" but under the entry "MR to Carlisle". Sorry to have troubled you as I can now enjoy the route and its activities.
It must be my age!!

Hi Martin

Pat produced 3 CD's

Pat's "The Midland Railway Settle & Carlisle Route" is a huge improvement on the Original MSTS Settle & Carlisle - Pat added additional sidings/Goods sheds etc etc and it came with lots of Activities.

I think this is the CD from Pat to which you are referring to

Skipton to Carlisle is, I believe, simply the second version of that route, greatly improved and extended to Skipton.

Pat did indeed produce two versions of the route. The first, released in March 2002, was called 'Settle&Carlisle1930s' and was based on the original and signalled with Hubert Feyerabend's (matchstick) signals, the cd carried the title "The Midland Railway Settle and Carlisle Route" and contained buildings by Mike Wilson and MR Models by Richard Scott. The second version, released in July 2003, was called 'Skipton' and is the version now released on UKTS, the cd carried the title "Skipton to Carlisle 1920" with the names Pat Dalton, Malcolm Roper and Paul Mitchell.

Thanks Guys,i did begin to wonder, when i order Skipton to Carlisle a few years ago,i was amazed at the work and details that had been put into the Route

The stock cd Pat sent me is packed full more Brillant work, think its going to take a Long time to upload stock cd there so much on there i really enjoyed running

Don know if this is on the download version, but when you have MSTS maxed out on the cd version

you will see one or two moggies (Cats, not my two) jumping onto the walls in places to watch the trains go by :P

Hi Guys,

I should like to thank Pete for converting the route from CD format to done loadable files from the UKTS site, by the comments in the forum he has done a good job, thanks Pete and also thanks to Matt.

The question about the number of CD I did, well my first attempt, the “Settle to Carlisle 1930”, was to do a few mods to the original default route, a number of other people were also doing the same thing at that time, although I do not know if any were ever made available. After teaming up with Paul Mitchell and the late Malcolm Roper and with the help of many other authors we produced “Skipton to Carlisle 1920”. Please look at the documentation for plans of all the stations and to see all of those who contributed to make the route possible.

Again with the help of a number of other people, I think around 26 in total, and again listed in the docs, but mainly Dave Bran and Brian Walker, we issued through UKTS, “The LMSR Rolling Stock” CD, this has 195 engines, over 650 goods vehicles, plus passenger rolling stock, it also contains a large number of consists to allow for easier activity making. As mentioned elsewhere, Matt and Pete will in due course be making this available for download from UKTS site.

Using the Midland Railway stock from the Skipton route, there are three activities for the excellent Vern Moorhouse Stratford on Avon & Midland Junction Railway [SMJ] route; -
File ID: 10182 “Blisworth_Banbury & return” Activity
File ID: 10131 “Shakespeare Special” activity
File ID: 10331 “Olney_Towcester_Olney” activity

I did complete all the track work through to Grassington, but scrapped it all when the copyright problem raised its head, just one more stupid thing to add to my list off "Why did I do That"………

Cheers

Pat.

Hi,

There are quite a number of cats at various stations and signal boxes, one sitting on the step outside the box, dogs (barking) and butterflies flying around, but no jumping cats, they are all static, birds fly, ducks swim.
Every station area has a pheasant around somewhere; goods sheds are also favourite places for small animals. Some boxes and baskets are addressed to either Malcolm or myself, a WW 1 biplane does circuits and bumps, if you get your timing correct after leaving Hellifield you can see it doing a touch and go at a peacetime summer camp, complete with tents, seen while leaning out of the cab……… everything is sighted for viewing from the cab, the only way to drive, also watch out for the odd garden fire.

Cheers

Can I just check one detail with this, before I sign the rest of my Summer away waiting for this one to download: if I download all the parts, will I have a route, stock and activities (like you would have with a CD) or just the route? I'd like something which would 'work out of the box' - I've just spent too long writing activities for download routes, and spending time aliasing up locomotives.

If you like historic steam, this route is a must.

Thanks to Matt and the UKTrainsim Live team, I was given a CD at the Keighley show, and I've spent most of my driving time between Skipton and Carlisle since then. But then, I've always been a fan of the Midland Railway.

Alan

Please have a look at my railway photograph site - http://alan-lewis-chambers.fotopic.net/ - lots of British steam and early diesels
Alan

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.
