Can anyone give me a bit of help.
I have a pentium 4, 3.06 Processor, 2048 Ram and a Radeon 9600 XT 256DDR memory graphics card by sapphire, and it's AGP.
I would like to upgrade this with another ATI card, can anybody recommend one, which would give me better graphic quality, I am bearing in mind, the new railways sims coming out, when I am thinking of this upgrade.
I am concerned of the newer ATI cards, has anybody any first hand experience of these later cards regarding reliability etc. as I am told there are certain reliability problems with some of the newer ATI cards (AGP).
Any feedback will be appreciated.

Personally i use nvidias graphics cards as i prefer them but i havent heard any negative feedbak regarding the newer ati cards only gripe i have heard is that the catalyst drivers are not as solid as the nvidias denonators, but i dont have first hand experiance.
The Ati X1600 is a very good card spec can be found folowing the link below

if you want to splash out theres the x1900 series

personally i doubt you would have problems with either of these cards

My thinking is to eventually upgrade to PCI express with almost a new computer once you need to (and can afford the expense).
For now, you still have an option open. I still prefer ATI for MSTS because I have seen a few threads where nVidia drivers seem to have some MSTS problems. Why not consider looking for an ATI 9800 Pro card? It will be a fair amount faster than the 9600 and I have noticed the 9800's are definitely getting much cheaper than they used to be. You might even be able to find a used one quite cheaply from someone who has already moved to PCI Express.
