I have UltraEdit32 which lets me change text in folders and files.

There is also the freeware CONTEXT from:
http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... ntext.html
which I believe can do that to !

There are 2 other than AUTOMATIC coupler types, which show like this in *.eng & *.wag files:

Type ( Chain )
Type ( Bar )

and doing a Replace: Type ( Chain ) with Type ( Automatic ) in Files / Folders *.eng,*.wag changes them all in a split second.

In isolated cases of a loco having a different coupler than the carriages it is attempting to couple on to, then changing that loco's coupler type to that of the carriages is another solution !

Thanks otto

I have Context.

Since my original post I have found the Route Riter help page on the subject.

http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... hange.html

I'll probably give that a try first as it will avoid any "typos" by me.

I've just tried this - and for some reason nothing happens: selected all of the (many) couplings which require changing, right-clicked on one, selected "change coupling' - and nothing happens.

Any ideas, anyone?

thanks
