Dent Station!

Post by eddief »

When I was out on the S&C a few weeks back photogrpahing 6201 Princess Elizabeth running over the S&C, I realised the 1 thing missing vrom MSTS is the board at Dent Station saying it is the highest station in Britain.

Does anyone fancy making this sign? I tired to get a photo when I was there but there is a lampost in the wrong place :(.

I tried to get 1 whilst I was there but there is a lamp post in the way so you can't get a good shot of it all at once :(. I'll look online see what I can find (perhaps we should send this to Pat Dalton for use on his route)

Does the highest station title refer to mainline stations only?I would have thought the station at the summit of the new funicular railway on Cairngorm might now be the highest.

I have not seen the Dent sign in any of the S&C books, does anyone know when it was first erected, MR, LMS or BR. I think some of these are relatively new items, by BR or some of the preservation guys.

We are always looking for anything out of the ordinary for the 1900 – 1930 period of MR/LMS between Skipton to Carlisle.

Any photos or plans of Culgaith station building would be most welcome; it is a very odd shape, unlike any others on the route.

Regards.

Perhaps we could have the sign at Ais Gill Summit too - it would help to know when to put the brakes on!

Ais Gill summit sign has been added as has the Ais Gill and Mallerstang sidings to the Skipton to Carlisle route.
