Guys (and Gals?),

I have a problem. I have £50 to spend and I have decided to invest in TWO new TS routes. However the terrible dilemma...WHICH TWO TO BUY?

I am particularly interested in the ProTrain series, currently owning Rhine Valley (ProTrain 2), which, although good when it came out, is beginning to show its age. I am also interested in Alpine routes (I bought Glacier Express after travelling on the RhB and am still addicted), but I want a double track mainline to drive on.

I was interested to see someone is creating the Gotthardbahn, which is a very impressive route but I don't think that will be out for a while.

Basically, considering the above, which two ProTrain routes would you recommend? I notice there are about 6 or 7 available, but no reviews since Rhine Valley came out.

Rhine Valley is Protrain ONE.
Protrain 2 is the Leipzig to Dresden route.
Protrain 3 hasn't been available for a long time.
Protrain 4 is Hamburg to Berlin
Protrain 5 is Berlin to Dresden
Protrain 6 is Lubeck to Puttgarten
Protrain 7 is Frankfurt to Nurnberg
Protrain 8 is Hanover to Berlin

There are in addition to the numbered series:
Protrain Karwendelbahn
Protrain Austrian Experience (Semmering)
Protrain Tauernbahn.

If you wish to order direct from the continent then there are Protrain 9 to 13 I believe.

Oh yes, so it is. Not quite sure where I got that from...

As to my question, does anyone know which routes are good? Bearing in mind that I want a double track electric main line with impressive scenery and high quality rolling stock, preferrably including intercity loco-hauled working and freight.

For instance, how good is ProTrain 7 (Frankfurt to Nuremberg) and what is ProTrain 5 (Berlin to Dresden) like?

I like the Karwendalbahn one, as it goes from Innsbrucke-Munchen, but not the main route, via Salzburg but via Garmisch Partenkirchen and Mittenwald. a lot of single track with passing loops.

I stayed at Mittenwald a few years ago with my late wife, and had a German Rail Pass so we used to go every where by train.

Don't have PT5 but can vouch for PT7 as a great all-rounder! You get loads of stock, including ICE1,2,3 and T, 200km or more of mainline and a section of the High Speed Line between Wurzberg and Lohr.

PT7 is excellent. If you like vairiety try PT10, which has everything from single track no electrified to 4 track electric 250 kmph running, not a very long route, but plenty of interest.
If you like high speed running pt 12 may be of intrest.
I also keep coming back to pt2 (leipzig - Dresden)
If you order from simware £50 would probably get you 3 routes.
