Nothing to be scared of with XP.I played around with ME for a few months,and upgraded,clean install.
First download\Back up latest XP drivers for mobo,graphics,MODEM,etc to CD Rom's,or have original manufacturers discs.
Format your HDD with Maxblast or equivalent,and your ready to roll.XP can then reformat HDD again to NTFS,if you want.Once back online get any other drivers you've missed.
To be honest,compared to XP,ME was a mistake on my part as my original choice.
