I have loaded Thames Mersey v4 at the weekend, installed it with no problems or so I thought, but when I tried to run activity #3, the loading screen appears as normal and displays setting up simulation then after 20 secs the fatal tell Bill appears quoting dwmdrivers.dat & dxdiag.txt in the Files in error report.
I had already run all the activities through Route Riter (with no errors), so I tried the remaining activities, the following gave the same result: Activities:3,11,13,23,24,32,40,41,42,43,44,45,46. Number 16 was worse and gave no loading options at all on the first screen (Introductory Train Ride screen).
I re-loaded version 3 and all the activities worked OK again, so I re-loaded version 4 and the same problems have re-occured. I use Train Store, I have Bin (Patch 1.6.123022highmem) installed and have 1Gb RAM on my machine. Is this just me or my P/C or has anyone else found this with version 4. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to have a look when they have time and give me a reply?

Just one other thing before I go, thanks to Dave Corfield and all the other hard working 'Route' writers your work is very much appreciated and gives endless hours of pleasure. Please keep up the good work, the standards just get higher and higher.

Okay, first run the mprofile.exe in the main MSTS folder, and if that dont work, uninstall the BIN patch as it 'doesn't like' certain items of stock

Thanks for replying Richard, I got called away just before you replied. I have done as you suggested and it is exactly the same scenario. Are you running version 4 with all activities working?

I'm posting this just in case someone else does a search on the forum and I can save them some time.

Well I didn't get much response to my question. So I sat and thought it through further and remembered when BD2 was released I had some Broken Paths on the original activtities which I had to fix with Activity Editor (as at that time I hadn't got Route Riter) before they would run.

I loaded the problem Thames Mersey activities on the Activity Editor and lo & behold Broken Paths. These Broken Paths were fixed and the activities are now running on Version 4.

There had been some slight trackwork alterations on version 4 (I think), on the main line just N.E. of Crewe, at Euston Terminus and on the main line Nth of Dallam Branch Junction.

Not sure why the Broken Paths did not show up in Route Riter, but thats life.

I'm not sure if Route Riter can actually detect broken paths... I know it's pretty comprehensive, but that may be one of the things that's beyond its present capabilities.

You are right - that file patches all the broken paths so they work with V4.

Routeriter won't detect broken paths - does anyone know of a tool that does, because I haven't found one.

Pretty sure there's not a utility to fix broken paths. If there was, it would have to be pretty smart and capable of judgement calls. Check out file 9769 which describes the way to do it.

The file does fix the patches, I had forgot about this path patch and on checking TM 4 with routeriter the last column in the check all consists dialogue reported 12 broken paths - Patch installed and now the route hasn't got any broken patches.

Thanks for all the info guys, I did do several forum searches to try and find any TM version 4 patches, but failed to pick up the one that JB has posted.

I have downloaded it just in case I might need it in the future. What a memory you must have Jon, thanks. I must say you have saved the day for me on more than one occasion with the replies you have posted to other peoples problems, please keep the advice coming, it's much appreciated.
