Would rather depend on the allocated loco.

A pair of 37's - drum and bass or thrash metal
Class 66 - trance
Class 56 - reggae or garage, depending on maintenance.

Now you're talking Mark! I volunteer my services as a musician to travel over and play this Eurovision winner. I play guitar, mandolin, bass, bit of piano accordion, whistle, harmonica and spoons. Just say the word.

And Mark... have you ever attended a Eurovision Song Contest in person?

I was able to get tickets for the final dress rehearsal of the 1998 contest in Birmingham, and because I knew someone who knew someone and was prepared to be interviewed on local radio I managed also to blag my way into the running order draw the previous November - I was just feet away from El Tel and Katrina and, most importantly, Mme Christine Marschal-Ortiz. Starstruck? Moi?

Even though it was a dress rehearsal it was great seeing it live - and we got to see some of the back-stage antics of the Greek delegation that year...

Oh and I forgot to add, your varied musical repertoire might be useful if we adopt the Swiss model of 1979 where the group played various garden implements, including the garden hose.

I wonder what tune you'd get out of an air brake pipe?

An interesting thought there... We'd definitely have to use train parts to get the musical sounds we needed, and dress up as railway employees. We've got 2 notes of the song written now anyhooo... what with the 2-tone air horn.

I can see it now... just like Ted and Dougal in the Eurovision episode... we'd be soooo coool!

"My lovely Grid,
With your fumes blowing in the wind..."

I can just hear Kevin Bishop's response now...
"mmmm....yeeeeesssss.......don't call us. Please. Don't call us. Ever..."

Now I always thought the humble class 20 would make a fine improvised musical instrument

Music: The Who's Quadrophenia. "I've Had Enough" has an excellent train sound bite at the end :D ; 5:15 ("out of my brain on the train...") :scatter: . 'nuff said.

TV: Michael Palin's episode on Great Railway Journeys of the World from 1980, where he rides from Euston to Kyle of Lochalsh. Has it all: steam/diesel/electric, main line/branch line, train spotters/preservationists/railway staff/drivers/signallers, all of course with humour. I watched it in Canada in 1980 (15 yrs old), realized the dream to take the train to Kyle of Lochalsh in 1990, still pull the dusty video out and watch it, and try not to shed a tear  during the bit in the steam locomotive scrap yard.

Bad songs with trains? lets see...

Any Johnny cash song. ugh!

They either have a train, a prison, or a fire, or a lost love.
Come to Canada and see the REAL Kicking Horse Pass. Travel through the dual spiral tunnels. Ride on the REAL Canadian through the Canadian rockies.

Was that a stop signal back there??
