I've just tried at

http://www.christrains.com/current.html and it works fine.

You might try going via the site home page,

http://www.christrains.com/mainpage.html

When you click on the floppy disc symbol for a download do you go to a screen with a clock on the left and a column of boxes on the right, the two largest boxes at the top and five narrower ones underneath? Despite no picture the links to the forum and "Links page" work fine and others open another page with the initial Welcome to Chris Trains Site :-? Should we be seeing a download start in one of these boxes? or are the downloads within the forum like the Route?

As we still have newcomers to MSTS it would be good to sort this out as Chris's models are excellent. Also as he invites donations it would help him if the site worked for everyone.

The http://www.christrains.com/current.html link works fine for me, clicking on the diskette icon brings up a download dialogue immediately.

I have retried downloading both the jet train and the eurostar with no problems today - maybe the link was temporarily disabled?

:-? ....Hmmm?!

Well it works fine on my older box too, which is good news :D ...but that doesn't help Richard222 or anyone else who can't get the download dialogue pop-up. As the others (and me now) have found this pops up as soon as you click on the floppy symbol. Those who don't understand..... Richard and I (on my newer box) get a totally different page when we click on the floppy which is as described by me above. If it works for you you don't see this.

Richard I think this might be a firewall or activeX issue but I can't find what to switch to resolve the problem. You could try turning off zone alarm and lowering your IE security levels temporarily to see if that has any effect. Apart from different versions of ZoneAlarm I can't think what's different about my set-ups. Both running IE7 but I did do some tweaking on these.

Works with one and not with the other ............ :-? :-?

Hi folks,
When you click on the floppy disc symbol for a download do you go to a screen with a clock on the left and a column of boxes on the right, the two largest boxes at the top and five narrower ones underneath?
When I click on the disk icon it opens a 'Run/Save/Cancel' window.

I have IE7 iwth security set 'medium high', pop-up and phishing filters 'on', also have Zonealarm firewall running, as well as being behind a wireless router.
Henk Bartels has a private server with a mirror of all the current downloads. If the links on this page don't work, visit his site at trainsim.nl and grab the files from there
(form the Christrains page)

Might be worth a try?

http://www.trainsim.nl/christrains/

Now this link works on the box where Chris's main site didn't.

Doesn't look like the Jet Train is there though :(

I'll investigate further.

Hi again

Just looked at the file downloaded earlier...... the file type is 'application' rather than 'compressed zip' ( as most of the other files I've downloaded from UKTS). At a guess, your firewall settings aren't letting you download this file type?

I think you can set up "trusted" sited as a custom feature but personally that isn't usually a problem. For instance the Route that is in ChrisTrains Forum downloaded fine. Bad news for Dial up though at that size. I also noticed that ChrisTrains did a CD of his models at about $24US (about £12.75) but couldn't see a link for the routes on CD.

Worth asking on the forum if you need to?

Christrains Downloads

Downloads from http://www.christrains.com/current.html work for me - clicking on the disc goes to a download/save dialogue. I'm using WinXP SP2, Firefox and Zonealarm.
