Hi all

I have an intel graphics media accelerator driver graphics card installed and lately ive been wondering what settings can i change to get the best out of it and how do i go about it.

It's bit like saying 'how long is a piece of string?'
I have the mobile version of this on my laptop and the most useful feature (for me) is for it to allow me to configure the laptop screen and an external monitor screen independently. For the majority of graphics settings it talks in a language I don't understand. With regard to MSTS graphics, I wouldn't worry too much; the program is a dinosaur in graphics terms and simply does not deal with state-of-the-art technology well. Use the highest resolution and refresh rate that your monitor can handle (if it's a flat screen remember they have an 'ideal' resolution that you shouldn't stray from) leave anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing under program control, or off, and enable the 'preserve aspect ratio' option if you have a wide screen.

Apart from that, remember all your settings as is, and play with it - see what happens; so long as you leave the control on screen, just 'Applying' settings does no permanent damage - a simple restart will resolve crashes.

Intel's Accelerators are not true graphics cards, instead they leech of the RAM and are generally not very powerful, although they are cheap & cheerful. If said machine is a laptop, then I'm afraid you are stuck with the cursed thing, although if you have either a spare PCI, AGP or PCI-Express I seriously recommend getting a dedicated graphics solution, on my now-defunct PC there was a Graphics Accelerator, but on replacing it with an nVidia (XFX) GeForce 5200 @256mb for a PCI port which cost around £60, I noticed a massive improvement in FPS on routes like the SVR which are now playable on full settings, albeit with some stuttering in built-up areas. PM with your PC specs and budget and I'll try to find a suitable card.

Nope i can easily get it changed the PC in question is a Dell Dimension 3100 so im geussing i can do quite a bit with it
