The problem was that there was too much moderation! ...

Yup - well said.
Well apart from the MT forums this weekend..... :P

Yeah but as well as the praise (which is deserved) look what has been happening, people (including me) are on there pointing out slight inaccuracies and inperfections or being involved in a couple of the activity or installation problems.

But look at the difference: The staff have been honest and patient! Answering queries whilst fixing issues raised by users. Staff and users are being good natured and humourous.

Nobody has been shouted down at. A different way of doing things you'd agree.

Has anyone seen the discussion board at easyjet? It's open, honest and includes some negative thoughts. That is life. All EB have done is to push adverse comments where they DONT have control.

I emailed Dave Babb of MT (alias Buffy?) a Q the other day when I couldn't register on the forum (my fault entirely) and the answer was prompt, professional and with humour.

A company can use and learn from a discussion board. Some do, EB didn't

In my opinion.

Personaly I feel EB could have shot themselves in the foot, by closing the forum down.

I expect a lot of people log onto the forum to find out about thier new sims, now with out the forum they might not bother with home page.

Also I didn't name names or blame any one for the closing down of the forum, it's a case of six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Ok folks i'm not letting you bring the anti-EB rubbish here.

There seems to be a concerted effort by some to cause EB as much trouble as possible and I will not be a part of it or let UKTS get dragged in to it now that the EB forums are gone.

While it is true that EB and UKTS have had their share of issues, we have resolved them (many months ago) by doing what all sane intelligent people do - by sitting down and talking about it calmly.

Derek - your post going on about how Ken swore at Aaron is a total exaggeration of reality, I've just seen the message you're referring to and I think Ken was quite justified in expressing how annoyed he was along the lines of "i'm really **upset**", but not one swear word was directed at Aaron. in fact without intending to disrespect Ken I have to say I thought the rest of his message was much more restrained than I've seen in the past. I know that Ken is under a fairly constant barrage of people being quite unpleasant to him - i've seen some of the horrific mails he's been sent lately - so to be frank, I think he's done quite well to be so polite, i'm not sure i'd be so restrained by this time.

There are a number of know-it-alls in the community who seem to think they know it better than everyone else but don't check their facts, apparently it's fine for them to flame EB but there seems to be a total imbalance when they are actually wrong.

I won't have this rubbish continued on this forum, if you have a problem with EB then please take it elsewhere.

Please consider this a warning, any further violation of this WILL result in further action.

Matt.

I've done forum admin before, and there's no danger I'd do it again. I can understand anyone having enough of it all and closing it down, because that is exactly what I did.

I like the MT idea, which was (sort of) copied to preserved diesels that you have to attach your real name to all your posts. Cuts down the malicious drivel to pretty much zero in one hit when people can't hide behind the name of an obscure Faith No More song! ;) (Note that it doesn't cut out drivel, but the nasty stuff seems to evaporate...)

Apologies Matt. Bringing UKTS into disrepute was not my intent.

I think if you were to have read my previous posts there, you would have seen my comments were pretty much in order.

Please feel free to delete me anyway. If we can not give justifiable criticism then I want no part of being here
