My post on The EB forums:
And I would also just like to make it clear that i was not trying to pick an argument i was mereley light heartedly stating that if you take away one letter you get the name of another Trainsim Group
Sorry again for spoiling what looks like a lot of peoples enjoyment.
Thanks
David
Looking back i feel it was kind of my doing as Rich replied to it then it all escalated much further then i originally intended and would just like to express my apologies and that i never intended on it causing a huge fuss. And look what you get if you take out the B
Cheers
David

I think it's possibly in their best interests they close the forum. It takes a bit of special magic touch to keep a forum going on the straight an narrow, and perhaps not everyone has it.
Heavy moderation with a friendly tone can keep things sweet, but is a special knack (that the mods here have perfected so wonderfully)*. There's a risk you can moderate heavily with the friendly tone somewhat masked and wind people up a bit, turning a forum into something that damages your reputation rather than something that encourages people to hang around your site, find out what you're up to, and slebber over upcoming releases so you can get them on day one (pats GE box). Certain sorts of comment can be 'recognised', the maker advised that they wont happen because, and moved on from, or else taken to seriously, a huff entered into at, and people's backs got up over.
To be honest I can't remember what I got banned for, it was a long time ago now... I think was a combination of something to do with saying I thought UK finescale looks nicer and replying to the standard 'our product works well on low quality machines' with the suggestion they do a version with better graphics for the better machines a lot of gamers tend to have. I got an e-mail very late one night, that I showed to a lot of people.
If they regarded me as trouble, they'd probably have a hard time dealing with the much worse out there. My other posts were still there and showed I wasn't exactly ever in line for troll of the Century.

I think they are totally missing the point.
The problem was that there was too much moderation! This lead to sometimes innocent (sometimes cheeky) posts getting shot down by a succession of up to 5 people eager to kick the guy down for ever commenting on something that could be put to use.
People need to accept that forums are not a place for patting people on the back constantly saying how good things are, but to suggest and give the staff valuable information from paying / potential customers of what could be better, or for slightly fustrated people to be responded by regular users who share the fustration and that will calm things down.
Anyone who wants to be a forum moderator needs to have a thick skin and is willing to find good posts through the bad ones.

EB Forum is down completly,
It seems earlier the this morning some finally pushed them to far saying they didn't do proper searches.
Some thing about a class Southern cl171 not being prototypical for their new South Coast Route.
Even though the 171's are seen around the East Croydon area.

I think I sent the final post. You can direct your criticism at me.
But first, you should note that my post was private PM direct to Ken.
I pointed out to him that the way he spoke to Aaron was totally un-necessary. That for the 'owner' to start swearing at him was not on. Both my own post history and that of Aaron suggested neigher of us were trouble makers- far from it.
I would respectfully suggest that most people were very supportive of EB, but one by one they gave up in the end.
I would suggest that the biggest damage to EBs reputation was EB. Their products are pretty good, but after sales service is not acceptable.
I am on someone elses forum at the moment, so I will leave it there. I understand this website has already had its dose of Ken Austin.

With respect Mike,
Wether or not Aaron was correct there was just no cause to levy the abuse at him that he received from Ken. I've never seen that at BATS,MT or here.
