why do locos only go to 40 psi when your steaming them down

hello
i waould like to know why when you burn out the fire on an engine the boiler pressure only goes down to 40 psi

also how would you fit a locomotive brake to a locomotive with out 1

I guess that that is the limit set by the sim,the same as you cannot achieve a fire temperature above 1000 degrees.Regarding the brakes,I have never tried it but try copy/pasting the brake sections from another loco (after backing up the one you are modifying)

Using the AI fireman, boiler pressure never drops below 140psi - even when you are completely out of coal and water. :( With one of my Thames Mersey activities, people were able to run from Rugby to Liverpool with no coal or water and still arrive ok. It does eventually end the activity if you go on long enough - but it takes an age :(
