continuing sound and other MSTS problems

Post by carlwestwood »

for a while now, myself and others have found that their are a few continuing problems of late with msts. for instance... the sounds on electric locos like the 90/87/86 are not sounding correctly, an don my machine the class 47 sounds are not right either.
i can only think that it is either the bin patch, somthing todo with common.sounds or the following...
i think this is a bit 'out there' but it could be possible that a virus has got into MSTS. and as soon as one gets a virus and uploads something - then people download, it spreads. im presuming UKTS has anti-virus software, but viruses are clever things that can if they try, bypass the antivirus software.

but anyway, the sounds on the inside of the cabview dont work correctly, sometimes not even working at all.

is anyone else experienceing this problems?

Hi
No virus I wouldn't think.........everything on UKTS is checked.
Look in your Train sim folder for the folder MSTSBIN_backup.
Inside there will be 'soundconfig.0001'
Copy this to somewhere safe.
Rename to 'soundconfig.dat'
Look in Trainsim global sounds.
Copy soundconfig.dat to somewhere safe.
Then place the newly renamed soundconfig.dat into the global folder.
Answering yes to over writing.
You are now back to the unpatched sounds.
I personally haven't experienced any sound problems BTW.
Cheers
Jon

have you re-enstalled trainsim recently and have you had this sound problem since, as i have experienced this problem after i re-enstalled traimsim, it only afeccted a few sounds class 25, 52, 55 and HST these sounded incorrect but other were ok, I just deleted MSTS and installed again and it worked fine.

just make a back up of all files files first of the following -:
TRAINSET
CONSISTS
ROUTES
GOBAL
SOUND

if you already have backup of routes makes sure you backup any activites you may have changed by saving the following -:
ACTIVITY
PATHS
TRAFFIC
SERVICES
