* BUMP *

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. I've reported him to ebay, I suggest others do the same.

Hello Folks

It looks as though your reports to E-Bay have done the trick. I have just used the link to view it and it says nothing on this number.

Regards Arthur

It appears so Arthur. Problem is Ebay will not ban him, so he will be back. :(

You could try reporting him to your local trading standards.

They might trace him and do something even if it's only a warning.

That just means he'll come back with a different username, unfortunately.

Which is doubly annoying because e-Bay will have a good deal of identifiable information about a user such as e-mail address, IP addresses, almost certainly a Paypal account, bank account details etc.

So if e-Bay were really serious about banning people who breach copyright / trade illegally they could make it very hard for them to re-register under another username.

I don't know anyone who has been banned from e-Bay so have no idea if it's just a case of 2 mins work creating a new account or whether e-bay take their own bans seriously and stop illegal traders by other means.

Thanks everyone for their input. I am going to lock the thread now since the original seller has apparently either shut his eBay account down or had it shut down for him. We also have the sticky running for freeware items being sold which is located here. Where people are selling commercial add-ons then it is really down to the copyright holders to follow up on that and be monitoring what is up for sale.

Kindest regards

John
