Most freeware routes copy over stuff from the MSTS default routes during installation, so if you don't have all of them installed you may get errors like this.

Try running a check on the route in Route Riter; if the missing shapes are in the default folders (as I'm sure the JP files are) it should find them.

The program asks if I wish to continue, if I do it keeps repeating the above errors.

I have looked for the equivalant .sd fies but I'm unable to find them.

The Jp2 ones are in the Default Japan 2 route shapes folder.

The Dirt Road one is in the Global shapes folder.

Run Route Riter and it will find them.

Hi guys

Thanks for the advice but I've installed Newroads and UK Finescale then the route, even run Install.bat again, Checked the routr with RouteRiter and it says no errors? the .s files are there but I can't find the .sd files

I have managed to get the route running but after the second station from the east the sim crashes.

Hope you can help, it looks a great route.

Many thanks

I had a couple of hiccups the second time I tried to use the route. The .s file for West Horndon Station and a .sd file for something else had disappeared. No trace of them anywhere. Only thing I could do was reinstall the route and let it do its thing again. It's been perfectly behaved ever since - well, as perfectly as anything can be on this sluggardly box of chips....

Reinstalling the route doesn't take long - give it a go; it might be all it needs.

Hi

I tried removing the route, re installed Newroads and UK Finescal, then reinstalled the route, ran the Installme.bat file again, but I am still getting the same error. Could this mean that Train Sim needs reinstalling?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Many thanks

Further information

I have just tried to run one of the default Japanese routes (the high speed one). I have the following errors showing on this route

'No Extended Shape Data For' the following Alt10mstrt.s , A2t10mstrt.s.

Shape failed to load Alt10mstrt.s
and

Failed to open texture file Global\textures\acleantrack1.ace , Global\textures\acleantrack2.ace

Hope this info can help

If these items are missing, it does look like a reinstall of MSTS will be needed as they are only available in the installation package (AFAIK)...

unless, of course, someone else knows different?

Failed to open and failed to load mean what they say! If MSTS can't find something, it will say failed to find (or similar).

Try turning your settings down.

I suspect a reinstall is not required.

Just tried turning the settings right down, still get the same messages.

I had set Dorset Coast up as a mini route last week and this has worked fine until today, when I try to load it in now I get the eror message:

Regional load error - parent Progress does not exist

and this used to run on almost full settings

Excellent Route!!

Just as a matter of interest for any future issue of this route, the line from Liverpool Street to Shenfield was electrified at 1500v DC in about 1948 and was extended to Southend Victoria in about 1952. It was then converted to AC when Electrification to Colchester & Clacton was commissioned in about 1959-60.

Have just downloaded and tried this route for the first time and it is excellent, many thanks to the author.

Spotted one little quirk though - as you come out of Shoebury the main box carries a sign that proclaims it to be "Wolverhampton No 1"! Ex-pat signalman from the Black Country feeling a bit homesick maybe? :)
