Evening Star, is, to the best of my knowledge, out of ticket at York! As for another masqurerading, there are no 9F's currently registered for mainline use, so it has to be fiction...unless, of course, this could be another case for our 'Ghost Train' thread...

Evening Star is in the National Railway Museum at the moment and there is no plans to steam here at present. As black 4 says there is no main line certified 9f so your friend is either lying or there is a ghost train out there.

Steam trips run past the front of my house on the cathederal runs and Flying Scotsman with German style smoke deflectors at the moment, also seen a rebuilt Bulleid, dont know what one as the leaves on the trees get in the way. I live on the Feltham triangle where the Hounslow loop joins the Windsor line and you can get to Guildford that way, so maybe it was one of these two.

But there aren't any blinkered green standards on the mainline! Nerest thing is a rebuilt bullied...and no-one could mistake one of those for Evening Star, could they?

She's had a steam test, so all she needs now is final re-assembly, lagging etc, and registering! August/September is sited as return time for her, hope this helps.

The Duke is the reason i'm here now! As a very, very young boy my Uncle took me to Swinton station to watch her go through, what a magnificent sight! The noise was terrific! Ever since i've been a steam buff...

I dunno actully. Depending on the speed of the train and the lighting conditions it colud be possible to mistake the 2. After all the Rebuilt Bullieds are very simillar to the Brit's so it is possible to mistake them.blackfour wrote:But there aren't any blinkered green standards on the mainline! I am not surprised!brownairwolf wrote:Thanks for the reply guys. I thought E.S. was at the NRM. My track worker friend said that which ever one it was 1.25m is not a safe distance to stand away from a steam train!
