Ah well, since you asked so politely..........
Assume you have loaded Stuart Williamson's 3 cyl sound set, file ID 2896?
Assume this is loaded to the exact folder as per Stuart's instructions?
In TRAINSET\common.sound\3cyl_generic???
Assume you have modified the Scotsman's .eng file to point the two sound lines in it, one for normal, one for cab, to the new files.
Both of these entries should look something like:-
Sound ( "..\\..\\common.sound\\3cyl_generic\\3c-60b-engpas01.sms" )
With the "engpas" as just "eng" or just "cab" depending on if you have a passenger(fireman) view set up........the first line is the external sound, the one much lower down in the file the cab.
What do you have set up???
Dave

thank you Dave
for your reply..
i see now that to expect a reply to a question that I have not asked is beyond the best of us!!
I have my scotsman linked to the 3cyl sounds ok (as I was a fireman on british Railways 1958/64 I found a 2 cyl sound coming from a 3cyl engine unacceptable...)
What my problem is that i installed the SNDFIX10 file to the Scotsman eng and cab file that was supposed to stop the puffing on the 2cyl scotsman when the regulator was closed.. sometimes it worked but most times it does not..
my solution is of course now to link all 2 cyl loco's to the common 2cyl sound file.. but it still leaves a 'puffing' scotsman file..
cheers from the Antipodies

Looks like we are catching up a bit with the enthusiasts
Anyway Sound there was a major error in the Sim's production
so don't expect quality from it in any form.
