Not very good at this, all I want to do is to say than you to Mr Hinton for Burton-Derby V2. I received my copy yesterday and already I'm finding it a brilliant programme.
Thank you
Kind regards

All I did Pete was to move the original BD1 folder to a secure palce and then install the route ONLY into MSTS. I then installed the ACTS/STOCK to another seperate folder outside MSTS in order not to overwrite any other files then work on things seperately!

This way I got to explore the new bits immediately without having any errors to sort out; that comes later!

Hope this helps?

So far I have run two activities on what I feel is a fairly good spec of computer. However I am getting frequent lock ups and send/don't send messages.
I think that it has a lot to do with the high level of detail and trackwork in the route and also the level of Ai traffic which is realistic but hard on the frame rates.
Time for an upgrade methinks.

Michael,

Tell us what your PC spec is first before you go charging off to your local PC shop?!!!!

I've run part or all of around a third of the activities on my laptop without any problems...other than me being useless at driving steam!

My laptop is a P4 2.4GB with a low spec HD and graphics and I have to turn the display quality down on some routes to keep the framerate in double figures!

BurtonDerby V2 - Goods Activity Instruction Sheets

Post by emrhd01 »

First time I've used Forum, so hope this ends up where it should?

I have received B/D v2 CD on Saturday (Absolutely fantastic) and loaded on P/C OK, but when loading Freight activities it refers to the "INSTRUCTION SHEET" for shunting details on route (no popups). It may be me, but where do I get these sheets. Can anyone help please?

P.S. Loaded Trainstore that was attached to CD, fanatastic, I didn't know what it did before, should have downloaded it ages ago. Thanks a lot Tony Formoso.

Hi emrhd01,
Welcombe to the site.
When you've installed the activities, there should be a readme files giving the instructions, might be an Idea to print it out.
There are only a very few pop up messages, as some people (me included) had a poblem with freezups when the message appeared if you didnt acknowledge it quick enough

Don

PS.... On the Activities forum you'll find the instructions for the
"Local Goods to Ripley" activity. I will post more if they've been missed off the CD.

Thanks for the reply Don and thanks for the welcome.

I've looked everywhere in the B/D v2 files for the Text documents, but can only find two in the Routes folder named "0" & "empty". :(
I have found the Ripley Goods Instructions as you said in Activities forum perhaps you could do the same for the other Goods activities as I think they've been missed on the CD.

Thanking you in anticipation. Bob.

I thoroughly enjoyed B/D v1 (Thanks for all your hard efforts) and the add on activities you and many others took the effort to compile, but I think I will enjoy v2 even more, especially as was born and bred in Nottingham.

Well I will Tell Of My Experience I have Tried 5 Activities & completed one Two The Britannia one & night Mail they both cause Locks & resets A Goods One Just caused MSTS to Shut down & Finally I was about three stations into Nottingham to Derby & Back & passed under A bridge carrying another Line & the train crossing it derailed causing my Train to do the Same Very Strange :-? Nothing Appears to Fall from the Line Above after that trains derailment So I can not see what causes my Train to Derail..

I think this is Going to be another one that will need a few tweaks to the Settings similar to TM & DC

I would like to say that all of the above are observations & in no way meant to be a criticism ...Don Has Once again Worked Wonders This Route Like v1 & his Cannock Chase Route really do make me feel like the owner of a Tardis They capture the felling of 50's Britain so well .

Best Wishes

Ok. Here's my spec.
AMD Athlon 64 3200 2.2ghz
512mb of Ram.
120gb hard drive (75% full)
GeForce FX5700le 256mb Graphics card

Now. I run the sim with all sliders on full and the antistropic and antialiasing on 4x. It will run Streamlines Seligman route with no problems. Wupper 10 also runs as smooth as a baby bum. I can even run Coals to Newcastle without problems, well except around Sydney but TM, Dorset, Burton all need the sliders down for certain sections. I have also bought the upgrades for Tehachapi and Cajon Pass but I cannot run them to the standard that would justify the expense.
Obviously I use Train Store and the drive has recently been scanned and defragged.
So. What next? Increase the Ram to 1gb? (fairly cheap) A better graphics card (expensive) Processor? (out of my depth)
I did pride myself on having a computer that could handle all the routes but now either the computer has got slower or the routes are getting more detailed.

What would you suggest to get me back on track?

Best regards

Michael.

Michael you could do with some more ram it will help but its not a cure.

I am Running a P4 3.4 with 4 gig of ram and I still get lockups & Slowdowns. so far BD has run well. I agree it take's you back to a time when the pace of life was just a bit slower.

Thank you

Don
