The Southwold Railway install problems on MSTS.

Post by earwigo »

I have downloaded the .exe file and the .d files for this route, but when I first ran the .exe file I had forgotten to remove the "UKTS_FILEID_" extensions, and the program stopped, reporting that it could not be installed because the file contains "invalid data". I then removed the file extensions and tried again with no success.
I tried doing a system restore, but still could not get the install to work. When I try the uninstall facility of the control panel, I just get a message that there is a fault, and I cannot uninstall whatever bits of the program the computer thinks are there. All other MSTS routes work O.K.
I really wanted this route, so could anyone out there please help me?
Many thanks in anticipation of some help!
Stuart. :cry:

Hi Stuart

As has been posted before, for some reason the Southwold route files can become corrupted during download - quite co-incidentally, I decided to try out Southwold myself only last night and had problems with missing/corrupted files. Try this:

1. Delete any remnants of your previous installation of the Southwold route;
2. Download the files again, one at a time;
3. Re-name your downloads by removing the "UKTS" file prefix;
4. Move all five files to a tempoary folder with no other files present;
5. Read the README file;
6. Click on the EXE file, which should start the installation process.
7. Once installed, ensure you have the latest Tsection.dat file on your system - if not, download & re-install.

From what I can recall, you'll also need to have UK Finescale track installed (first) as Southwold is a narrow guage route.

It worked for me so hopefully this should sort you out.

Cheers
Ashley
