I was just wondering whether, and please forgive me if this has been asked before, people will rush out and snap up copies of MSTS II when it comes out, or whether they will stay with mark I.

So I have set up a poll

Please answer

I have not voted as I am going to wait and see how different it is. If we can't use existing models with it then I am not going to be that interested.

Likewise, but i am about 99% confident that it will be compatible with existing models - not so sure about routes but then it shouldn't be that hard for them to provide a migration utility so that you just have to convert a version 1 route over. Activities, not sure about those at all, i'm hoping they do a lot of work on activities for v2 - as long as the stock and routes work, and the activity editor/capabilities are better, i think we'll be able to live with doing activities again.

Eg. I love the way that Trainz does activities/scenarios - but they're so wildly different to Train Sim it'd be next to impossible to write a converter if MSTS went the same way. On that topic, as soon as SP3 is released i'll post a screenshot story board for the activity i'm working on at the moment in Trainz ;)

Well if Flight Simulator is anything to go by, I would expect the models to either be compatible or to be able to be converted to run on the new version.

However, unless MS/Kuju come to some sort of a deal with the X-tracks people, then there would not seem to be much chance that routes will be interchangeable. I would think they will come out with their own new tracks/track pieces.

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).
