You use the Train Simulator Editor and Tools, and then select the activity editior option. From there you open the activity and then you can make any changes via there.

Found The Highland Activities refuse to load in the AE and cause it to crash.

If that happens, Conbuilder, as mentioned by Doug, is an alternative.

Simple utility and the only one I use other than those suppied by MS.

If you can learn to edit consists manually, it won't be quicker but you will have a better idea of how activities work :)

Cheers

Hi Doug

I too used to use Conbuilder to change locos in consists until I found a problem - if you change, say, the loco in a consist, ALL activities that use that consist are also affected as the named consist file is overwritten (this is a particular problem on the superb Bala Hub route, where quite a few of the activities use the same consists).

By using the MSTS Activity Editor instead, any changes you make can be saved as a separate consist file, which you can then assign to whichever acitivties you want without affecting others. The original consist remains unaffected.

Conbuilder is however very useful for (among many other things)removing tenders from consists where you've changed a steamer into a diesel.

If you load the original consist in Conbuilder, change the loco and then type in a new filename and description and save, the original will not be overwritten.

Hi John

True, but wouldn't the activity still be looking for the original (unaltered) consist, rather than the re-named one?

Yes it would and you would then have to edit the activity to point to the new consist, easily done in Route Riter.

The previous post seemed to imply that if you changed a consist in Conbuilder, you had to save with the same consist name and I was just pointing out that you could save under a new name.
