Ok, i have a lot of hassle building stock in GMAX, partly due to the way it's constructed, and i'm considering buying 3D Canvas Plus, at $35 it's very well priced, obviously i want to get to terms with constructing with the freeware version first, i'm just wondering how many people use it and what recommendations or suggestions you can give me, advantages of the program and how easy it is to take it into the game.

I'm a novice builder but have got to grips with 3DC pretty quickly, the exporter is a breeze and creates a stub .ref file for the sim and places the .sd and .ace files in a nominated route.

You really need to buy the $70 version (PRO, not Plus) if you want to run the extra plugins I provide.
All I can say is play with the free version, read the tutorials - including the ones on

Hi,
I endorse all of the above, I wouldn't be without it. All of the plugins make it a breeze IMHO.
I have built models that I would never have dreamed of 2 years ago.
What's more there are plenty of really helpful experts only too ready to give useful advise ( two of them have already posted).

I would echo the above, anyone starting out in 3DC on here has a goldmine of info to glean from, with the likes of Paul G on here you really cant go wrong - remember if you get stuck- Ask the 3DC experts here, they do know their stuff!

I also use 3dCanvas - and can recommend it. Well worth getting the PRO version as Paul says as his plugins make loco building much easier...
Cheers,
Jon

Paul definitely falls into this category! But I think I fall into the "competent" category at the moment.
