Peaks Dont like it! New cam view patch.
Just installed the new camera veiw patch, but for some reason the the Peak pack locos do not like it, every loco i have run has a big grey-ish square in cab view mode! I have the 1.5.6 dual cab view patch and also have the Dual cab peak upgrade patch, all has been fine untill adding this new camera veiw patch! Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks

We ran into a similar problem with one of the BATS steam locos, where people who had a customised camcfg.dat file could see the crew through the windows when looking from inside the cab.
The solution (discovered by David Forrest) was to change the first part of the camcfg.dat file back to the original settings, which were:
camera ( CamTypeCab
CamType ( CamTypeCab CamControlViewSwitch )
CameraOffset ( -0.51231 4.28496 10.0387 )
Fov ( 60 )
ZClip ( 0.5 )
WagonNum ( 0 )
Description (Cab_Cam)
)
Try that and see if it helps (backing up first of course).

That is strange as the cab view is unchanged from the original, stuart Williamson version. ie:
camera ( CamTypeCab
CamType ( CamTypeCab CamControlViewSwitch )
Fov ( 55 )
ZClip ( 0.1 )
WagonNum ( 0 )
CameraOffset ( 0 0 0 )
Description (Cab_Cam)
I'd be interested to know if your changes work. I must admit that I have not yet tried any of the dual cabs but I cannot see that having an effect.

Michael.
As far as I know, it's not a problem with the dual cabs patch and it's not a problem that manifests itself with a lot of locos. I too will be interested to know whether the changes to the beginning of the file solve the problem for that loco. It certainly did for the BATS loco.
Regards,
Bob.

Ill get round to uploading a fix later on, but its basically open the .cvf file of the affected locos and to quote Jbilton
Hope that helps!A note for others I've found by increasing slightly from 8.0 to 8.2 on the forwards view you get rid of the back of the drivers head.....and can still use the freight animation.

Hi
Yes...as Gary posted the measurement is accurate....as the photo was taken directly behined the drivers seat....so if someone is sat there...your looking at the back of their head.
By moving it forward slightly your becoming their eyes.
Camera 1 is designed to see freight animations as solid objects, this is good in most circumstances....but a nuisance in others.
Try increasing to 8.2.....if not just go to 8.3 etc.
I have since found an elbow in a couple of leftview cabs, slightly reducing the length got rid of it.
Cheers
Jon

Hi Mikecodrivermike wrote:Ah I see. The peak has a driver in the cab. I thought it was the cam hack that was the problem. I've not downloaded those locos (or the new .exe patch) but I will soon I think.
Michael
Its proberbly a combination of the two....if the FOV has altered from the default 55 to 60....and the patch alters something slightly too.
This might explain why some have seen Bully's head and others haven't.
I like the camera 4 FOV, I was playing lastnight using Fraps, got some excellent video....(not so good once its compressed though).
I don't like Screenshots taken using it though, they look too false(Trainz like) for me.
Something I found out while playing, you can swap the global camera files without totally restarting msts, between activities
Cheers

I'm very impressed, Michael.
The cabview seems to have improved for my US locos, like the FP45's and SD-40's and also the Alcos, all of which have cabviews skewed to the right. Even an inch makes a big difference. Since you say you haven't played with the #1 view much, this might be in my head!
What I've found with the #2 view is that it works spectacularly on the desert and mountain routes and also something like the Cambrian, all of which have a distant horizon. It doesn't fit as well on routes like LSE and SR which have a somewhat limited scenic horizon, unless you bring it in substantially.
The #4 view is great for the big US locos and the coupling view is a lot of fun.
Excellent, Thanks much. Altering a dat file is beyond me.
Regards, Stu.
