Kuju Deltic

Post by NeutronIC »

Does somebody have a copy of (or a pointer to) the Kuju Deltic that was on the PC Gamer cover disc?

Thanks!
Matt.

Do you have an intention to upload it?
It would be helpful to make the controls work in the Blue Pullman cab.

I understand that the author of the cab (Deltic Bob I think) withdrw the cab some time ago so although I have it on my system, it's not mine to upload for general distribution.

Does the Blue Pullman cab (still available here as far as I know) not have working controls? I have it installled but haven't noticed anything not working.

The Kuju Deltic cab was not produced by Bob, he simply started out extending it before eventually completely redoing it.

The original Kuju Deltic Cab was produced by Kuju as a freebie add-on on a PC Gamer cover-disc.

Sorry Matt, it was on PC Format magazine. Sorry to be so pedantic, but PC Format have always been great supporters of MSTS since day one with payware add on reviews being written fairly and with an eye to the main customers... Us. Not much ribbing of the "anorak and notebook" variety at all. I don't imagine many purely gaming magazines would let the opportunity for ridiculing rail-fans go past withough generalisations and sweeping "humour".

As such I think it only fair to name-check the magazine that hosted the Deltic (first major add on as I remember), some activities to use it, along with a complete route-making tutorial on it's cover disk.

As has been said plenty of times, a bloke called delticbob (Bob Peach) was the Deltic cabview guru. He made absolutely brilliant cabviews for every Deltic model released and kept tinkering and nudging the numbers around to make them and the engines as realistic as possible. I was priviledged enough to be a part of the team who got it all together, in my own modest testing way... :D

Unfortunately a few idiots (generally people who've not produced an MSTS add on in their lives) who reside here seem to think that everything should be done their way and will make some people's lives intollerable if they don't agree. Mostly this involves getting stuff for nothing, being incredible rivet counters and rude with it, or just plain insulting and abusive in forum threads, PMs and emails. I've been on the receiving end of this nastiness and I'm not fussed with doing any freeware ever again for MSTS. TOUGH!

Bob got one too many insulting posts or somesuch and decided that he wasn't interested in providing anything for the MSTS community any more, including his Deltic packages, and his less well known but equally impressive WCML electrics cabview pack. That's his prerogative and I respect his wishes.

Consider the delticbob cabviews gone for good. He's not at all interested in letting ANYONE use them for any reason whatsoever, and from what he's told me about his MSTS experiences I really can't blame him.

Now, let's just leave the bloke alone eh?

The guys at PC Gamer were very supportive and great to talk to when I was sorting the Alston + Woodhead add-on to go on their cover disc, so they're not so bad :)

I stand corrected on where the Deltic cab was tho :)

Many thanks indeed to Ash, unfortunately it is a modified version of the Kuju cab as modified by our friend Bob, so I can't use it.

Does anyone have the original? It's wrong, but at least I won't be stepping on Bob's wishes.

Matt.
