MSTS add-on screw ups

Post by engineerbj »

Lately, I've noticed that many, if not all, MSTS add-odd steam locomotives have a few failings in their physics of operation. First of all, even on a steep hill with icy rails, the wheels don't slip, not one bit. Even in the same conditions when you're going one way and you throw 'er into the opposite direction of travel, no wheel slip. I know that most of these engines are homemade affairs, and that nobody's perfect, but I like real-world operational accuracy. And for the Thomas the Tank Engine add-ons, they could be improved, especially the un-realistic look, with the jagged textures and sloppy faces. On a lighter note, I admire the quality of work that was used in making of the real-life engines, namely the attention to detail and the overall accuracy.

engineerbj

Your sweeping statements criticising the work of freeware model builders are, I must admit, less than constructive....and I know that many will find your comments hurtful and unwarranted.

I therefore ask you not to continue these critical comments in this way. By all means make constructive comments and suggestions on how the dynamics of models can be improved....but to refer to perceived shortcomings in other's work as "screw ups" is not acceptable here.

To stop this thread from erupting into a tit for tat arguements, I am locking the thread. Anyone wanting to dispute this....please PM another moderator, stating our reasons.
