Silly Newbie type question

Post by GilbertsFridge »

I've finally re-installed MSTS after a comprehensive system clear out and down grade to Win98 (ME sucks), but for some reason its only given me the Trainsim desktop icon, nothing to lauch the editors. I know virtually nothing about computers. How do I get the editor shortcut?

Please help

Is there nothing on the start menu?

programs > microsoft games > train simulator > editor and tools ?

If not you'll have to reinsall, and make sure you choose "complete"

I only have the trainsim shortcut on the desktop.

It should appear in the list of programs.

If not go into the program files .... find the editor .exe file and create a shortcut.

When you've used the editor once it will appear in the progam list.

Assuming it installed correctly.

I had the same thing & it drove me half mad!! I thought I must be missing a CD.

Choose complete & let it load everything - including it's 3 versions out of date Acrobat reader. Overload the more recent version of Directx after loading MSTS.

Access the editors from the Start - Programs; bottom left of Windows toolbar. Despite what is said in the manuals the editors don't access from 'Launcher.exe'

Easiest way! Go into main train simulator folder.Drag Icon for "Editors and tools" to desktop.Voila you've got shortcut!
PS do the same with icons for HD,CDRom,CDRW in "My computer",it'll save you time,if you like shifting folders around like me
