Broken coupler, how is it stoped?
Basicly as it states above, there a way of stopping this?

If you are experiencing problems with broken couplers you may wish to attempt modifying the item of rolling stock concerned.
Use Windows Explorer to find the folder for the item of rolling stock, in the Trains/Trainset folder of your MTS install. Physics parameters are defined in the *.eng or *.wag file which can be opened using Wordpad or any other Unicode text editor.
Open the eng or wag file and scroll down until you find an entry that reads thus:
Coupling (
Type ( Automatic )
Spring (
Stiffness ( 1e6N/m 5e6N/m )
Damping ( 1e6N/m 1e6N/m )
Break ( 1.1e7N 1.1e7N )
r0 ( 20cm 30cm )
Alter the second figure in the break value to 9, so the example above would read:
Coupling (
Type ( Automatic )
Spring (
Stiffness ( 1e6N/m 5e6N/m )
Damping ( 1e6N/m 1e6N/m )
Break ( 1.1e9N 1.1e9N )
r0 ( 20cm 30cm )
You will need to do this for each item of rolling stock in the Consist. This should give the stock couplings with the breaking strain of the anchor chain on the Queen Mary. This is not the definitive answer to the uncoupling problems as other factors are at play but may help.
NB: If you have any doubt about your ability to modify the above files then don’t! Always make a backup copy of any file you plan to amend before proceeding.

I'd chenk the bouding boxes as well. Sometimes broken couplings are caused by cosists stricking the ground due to incorrect bounding boxies.

Running the Fix .eng/.wag Files option in Route_Riter fixes all of your Damper settings from n/m to n/m/s automatically.
No excuse for this these days, this error was noticed within 12 months of MSTS being issued...

I could be wrong....but I think Mike's comment was possibly aimed more at stock uploaders, rather than end users.
Cheers

That's how I read it as well. But that's STILL no excuse for not even searching about "broken couplers"jbilton wrote:Hiandyw823 wrote:Well for your info, i only bought MSTS last year and this is the first time its happened, no need to be sarcasticmikesimpson wrote:Running the Fix .eng/.wag Files option in Route_Riter fixes all of your Damper settings from n/m to n/m/s automatically.
