Class40 Cabview 40168

Post by systema »

Have downloaded Jon Biltons 40168 for use with switchable cabs etc. The instructions require Kenjis Class 40 cab to be installed but I cant find this anywhere on UKTS. Any ideas?

Hi Mick
Opps...........my mistake  ........its one of the cabviews withdrawn from the library.
I'll contact Kenji and see if he'll allow me to upload it completely.
Cheers
Jon

Edit

Hi Pete
As the eng file has data in it which standard MSTS doesn't recognise.
I think it'll throw out an error.

Pete, yes you cannot use Jons modified locos in an unpatched msts installation. The standard set up doesn't like the additional entries relating to cabviews. Cheers, Dave.

Hi Dave
Well you can get round the cabview by doing as Steve says using the ELR one.
But I'm not sure on the lights, MSTS may just ignore them....don't know I haven't tried.
Not really sure why someone wouldn't want the patch....unless they get lots of front end crashes like me.
Cheers

John

Remember Kenji had to remove some of his "creations" because he used files stolen from the ELR route CD to build a few of his cabs. If the cabview's not been returned to the file library since his disgrace, then chances are it shouldn't be.

I shall check very closely any cabview that appears here with regards to theft of intellectual copyright.

Hi Fodder
Thanks for that, I do remember .............but it wasn't anything to do with the above.
Which to be concise, were taken from screenshots out of the Forums, as the CD hadn't been issued. So the work was all his own.
He's been very busy lately, and not got round to re-uploading it.
I hadn't realised when I uploaded the Class 40.
Its very similar to his excellent class 37 cabview.

The ELR cabviews are brilliant....but not everyone has them.
As a PS.......It might be a good time to issue a patch so we can start using them with the new MSTS patch.

Cheers

Jon

LOL... I've done the Peak cabs for Chris's upcoming Peak CD and hopefully they'll be sorted as well for the new patch.

I've not done anything with MSTS since this patch was announced and haven't even downloaded it so I haven't got a clue what needs to be done or undone. I'll see about having a look and maybe doing something with the ELR cabs at some point when I get the new patch installed.

I don't think using somebody elses uploaded screenshots as the basis of any MSTS related items can count as "own work". I wouldn't even dream of using any of Kenji's cab screenshots and just changing a few colours and calling it "all my own work" and never would have done. The guy's a proven thief and as you can see, I'm not at all happy about what happened and never will be. :x :x

Just wanted to point out that there may be a very good reason why the 40 cab hasn't been reuploaded.
