Trainz

Post by chuxn2005 »

I am thinking of a switch to Trainz, as MSTS gets 'boring' because all the average user can do is drive the trains and make activities, creating routes is too hard.
I thought that you lot would know some decent forums for UKtrainz and add-ons.
ANy website or forum would be deeply appreciated.

Would definately stick with MSTS for a while, in my opinion Trainz is by far less realisitic.....and route editor is not too hard, it just takes practice ;)

I cant really say that either of them are realistic becasue you dont have AWS or any features of a real train.
Good points about trainz -
can see people get on-off
Easy to build new routes
Comes with more stock, more activities etc

MSTS in my view doesn't stand very close to this product, the only reason im still with MSTS is because i dont have a fast enough PC to work trainz06. Something that i dont like about both product's is how you cant just download the whole train or whole route in one go. You have to get bogies etc before you can play it. it's anoying. ANother reason of why im thinking of going to trainz is because of the lack of CD's form here, i know why and all but that was about the only thing i used in ways of add-ons.
If i get a new PC i'll be gone straight away.
Anyway are there any sites where you can get CD add packs (like Train Driver)

Not entirely true. People appear on the platform, then appear in the train - no animation.
Comes with more stock, more activities etc
Your joking! Have a look through UKTS, a good 3/4 or more of the stock available isn't for trainz.

It's easy to build new routes for MSTS with practise. It's funny how MSTS has stood the test of time while there's been about 4-5 versions of Trainz released.

Perhaps its worth holding out for either TMTS or KRS if you are considering a shift to a new simulator. BOth are likely to make our current sims look prehistoric :P!

I dont agree that route buliding is easy on MSTS, i know what you are saying about activities and so on but i hate having to download individual componets like bogies and so forth, i dont understand why you cant just put it all in one would be much much easier.

I wouldn't get Trainz then....EVERYTHING is separate, around 30 files for each loco.

True but download helper packs them into one and reskins only have 2 files

Changing bogies/sounds/cabs only takes a few seconds.

I tried Trainz once upon a time but couldnt get on with it. I found it very toy like (In more ways the one) and trying to build a route in Trainz just irritated me.

Personly I will stick with MSTS untill TMTS comes out. While the RE does take getting used to, once you get the hang of it its a piece of cake, tho of course it does have its limitations.
