Good stuff Andy. I've got:

Blue Mountains Line (Australia)
Corris Rly.
Foxfield Rly.
HLMR (High Leigh Miniature)
L&SR (Lakeside & Sutton)
London - Southampton (not finished download)
Lyme Regis Branch
Mornington Rly. (Australia)
Thaxted Branch (faulty)

Plus a dozen or so add ons, only a few of which I have installed atm...

...hmmm...not nearly enough :D :D :D

Though I'm very pleased with my new addition - the HLMR :D :D :D Thanks goes to davidaward for producing such a great little route.

Hi all
I first bought MSTS late 2001, played all the default games, loved the American and Canadian routes best. I have played quite a few add-ons and until I came on to UKtrainsim, my interest was dwindling, however although I don't say much in the forums, I am always interested to look at peoples views. It is this that to me, helps to keep my interest in MSTS and look forward to the new sims.

cheers

I bought the sim way back then

Post by oldoakcom »

I bought cause i live in Germany and was from 16 to 28 a Secondman and then a train driver on British Rail.
I started at Old Oak common hence the name passed for driving in 1984 and spent some time there before going on the southern to a depot called Orpington. Later i went back to Old Oak Common and was there till i left the railway in 1990 as my wife didnt want to staying England mmm.
so thats why i bought it to bring old memories back
of going to Birmingham on a class 50 or with a class 31 to Taunton on a summer saterday special.
was a bit disaponted at first as couldnt turn the cab lights of, is really anoiying as light in the cab a night is a No No. well after finding UKTrainSim never looked back.
Hope the new one will good and perhaps they listend to the folks here
P.S. In the new one the turn tables must turn or i wont bye it, we had one at old oak was fun letting a class 47 go round in circles while me and the secondman stood and watched

WoW OldOak, sounds like you had a great time over here, shame your Mrs. wanted to head back.

One of my biggest regrets was not becoming a driver (though I still have time I suppose, only 34!), my dad and grandad used to work on the railways (thought not drivers) and I always used to go into the cabs and say one day I will drive these. (40's and 47's mainly)

Good thing about MSTS, I can virtually drive the old school machines, and not the rubbish that is on the rails in real life nowadays.

Msts can be great when it works but can be a real pain in the arse sometimes.

As you can see from my pic i like the old scholl diesels too is fun, the pic thogh shows a western was a little bit to late for them. But remember seeing one still at swindon in a sorry state.
Was back at Old Oak last year is so strange to see a once very busy place so quiet, almost silent.
P.S. as a secondman used to love winding the old drivers up when theyed start with the steam engine storys, my friends and I used to say do you mean those old kettle thingies. Didnt go down to well but was a laugh they new we meant it nicly.
Yes sadly those days are gone what i used to get on every day 47s,50s,31s,08s, and a few exotic things like a 45 or a 33 are all now museum or preserved, or gone to the big railway in the sky with all the old kettles too. strange how it all changes, another reason to belt along with a 1000d on the paddington to penzance route :D

I was given MSTS as a present in 2002 and have never looked back. I have always loved Railways and Steam Locos since I was knee high to a grasshopper in the 1950's and as such have always had a Model Railway. Now my railway is in a small box in the front room connected to a screen and I now get to actually fire and drive them!!. I think the old Hornby will be on E-Bay sometime!!

God knows how many times I have had to upgrade the computer to keep up with MSTS!!

Great Western? Is'nt that the branch line that joins the Southern at Reading?

My dad has left me 100's of models in the garage, there is a real mix of BR,SR,LMS,LNER and GWR. he has about 7 Lizzies :o and some train sets he had since he was a kid, pluse several limited editions such as a Grey unrebuilt bulleid, the Blue Pullman, Black Princess Elizabeth and Bachmann Tornado with a huge mix of Triang locos too (like Lord Of The Isles) , i put his Hornby 00 gold plated Princess Elizabeth in front of his picture in the living room as a form of tribute from me, all of the others are still in boxes (some never been ran), the model railway railway is in the garage which is on a board that is on special joints which let it be placed right up to the ceiling so the car can go in, trouble is i cant bring it down on my own but my dad bought some mechanism that can be added so i can do it on my own, he never finished it so i guess it will have to be my job

Hi.
I followed this same hobby route myself, the old stuff is now relegated
to the loft in one cardboard box.
It would take a very large box to put all my MSTS models in. They mount up so quickly over 1500 now, and I'm small time.

Got MSTS Christmas 2004 as a present from my work collegues after I nearly burst my appendix (whoops)

My old PC couldn't cope so it sat about a few weeks until this one was brought. Met Matt P @ Brighton model world last year and he gave me MID EAST and since then.... :D

I know I can be a bit anal when it comes to things being right (stock, engines, look of routes) but all in all I still love my MSTS, and when routes like Dorset Coast, Steyning etc come out I know I'll stick around a while yet 8)
