A late postcard - diary of an addiction

Post by decapod »

Back from the abyss - two weeks of no computer...

This may help those of you about to go away on hols - a short diary of two weeks cold turkey (and a lot of wine)

It's a bit like giving up smoking (which I have done simultaneously in the last two weeks - I must have been doubly irritable)

A final burst of modelling on the night before setting off for the south of france (hmm - some old tracks down at the Newhaven harbour)

Dieppe to Béziers - nothing (just a few lines and wagons in sidings to look at)

It was gale force wind and rain for the first week (I don't remember ordering that weather from the camping holiday brochure?) - the old Thomas the Tank engine books got thoroughly worn out whilst reading to my two year old daughter (strange - she's totally addicted to trains now)

When the sun came out it was off to the beach - odd how every sand castle ended up with a funnel and wheels - it was getting the better of me. From the look of the weather today I guess you've had a fantastically sunny couple of weeks :)

Aha! - the bar has an internet access point saved! I checked my mail, had a look at uktrainsim - extremely glad to see updates to a few older models. Now for the forums... Sorry not working due to upgrade (I almost cried at that point)

Stopped in Limoges on the way back - very nice station, I think I'll build a model - I paced the inside dimensions and have photos from all angles :) lovely 1920's architecture

Oh well I waited till I got home - now I only have a few hundred forum postings to read....

I'll post again in a few days when I get through them.

Welcome back Paul, nothing has changed except we are all just a bit older and madder. No worries, an hour or two in Route Editor will soon get you back up to 40 a day.

Just be thankful it's only once a year. :)
