This addon looks pretty good. :D EuropeanBahn did a really nice job rebuilding the route, I'll definitely have this addon down for pre-order.

I looked at the movie, and I think that like most of us, I'll wait for screenshots of the route too be posted (MARTIN, if you do get this route, I'll keep an eye out for the screenies ) before I decide wether or not too buy it

Official screenies only show what the authors want you too see, general sceenies that people on here post tend too be much better, and show all the route, both what the authors want & dont want you too see

I like the route, as it contains my favourite trains, the 125, 225 and the 317, but one is missing, the 313's, especially the Network south east one.

Scenery looks decent in some places, and stock looks alright, but the routes hindered by using default track....and of course, theres no doubt the old 'far away scenery - gone!' bug will be in there.

Hi

From what I have seen from the official website, the add-on looks quite good. Using default track is a shame, as far as I'm concerned. Uk finescale is so much beautiful. But I think we can use scottrax replacement textures quite easily. Concerning the trains, i think there aren't as good as some freeware models, especially the GNER HST.
But as it's a low range add on, I think my PC will not stutter when playing, and it's a good point ! Add ons such as LSE are really beautiful, but because of stuttering, I don't play with it as often as I'd like.
Anyway, i'll probably wait the screenies on the forum before buy it.

King's Cross looks good, a slight improvement over the MidEast version judging by the screenshots.

But Harringay Flyover looks out of proportion, in my opinion, and Ally Pally looks only loosely based on the real thing (road bridge missing, Bounds Green depot looks nothing like the real thing). I'm still undecided about Hornsey as I've only been inside the depot compound once.

I can't comment on the rest of the route though, as its been years since I've travelled on the rest of the route up to Peterborough.

Regards,

Dan

Waiting till I see screenshots of what Huntingdon looks like. If it's up to Scottish Central standards could be the second house I've lived in featured in a route. If not, I'll be disappointed!

Personly I dont think ill be getting this addon. As its allready been said, it uses default track which dramaticly reduces the realism and playability of the route. Plus thier texturing hasn't got much better either...very cartoony.

Please remember these are MY opinions and do not reflect those of UKTS or its users.

Default track doesn't touch playability, just how it looks. A route should in theory survive just as well as possible in MSTS with MSTS packaged track as say Xtracks, UKFinescale and the rest (although there might be different types of track in each package, like Xtracks has tighter corners and such).

Of course it does. Theres no way in hell you can get a prototypical route using just default track. Theres no way in hell you can create all the possable track layouts you could with either Xtracks or UKFS. Default track detracts emensely from the realism and therefor detracts from the playability of the route.

I disagree. Default track versus UKFS isn't as realistic (for UK routes - it's fine for US routes), so yes it reduces realism to some extent. However it does not touch playability one iota. Playability is all about how good the activities are and things like the signalling - can you operate trains in a prototypical way? You could have BRIO wooden track that looked totally stupid but that would still not affect a routes playability.

In fact at a certain point I would say the reverse is true. UKFS can reduce a routes playability over the same route built with default track (or XTracks). This is because UKFS has more polygons and more track pieces per given formation. Once you get very busy track layouts both the tile object count and the poly count goes up high for UKFS while default / XTracks will not use so many objects or polygons. The Nene Valley Railway add-on was a good example of UKFS used without proper planning.

So a UKFS track layout that isn't very very carefully planned and thought out can be detrimental to playability because your frame rate falls to the unacceptable level and/or MSTS crashes.
