This Really Bugs Me :2gunfire:
Why is it when making a consist in MSTS own Editor & tools Programme the Steam Loco Tenders are Mixed with the Passenger Stock ?;that in it's self is not a great bother, but the fact that when you inadvertently click on one you lose your place & move to the freight section of the rolling stock.

Is there any way This can be edited or fixed ? & yes I know There is con Builder :) which I sometimes use but I like MSTS Activity Editor Con Maker & I much prefer it over Con Builder because you can see a thumbnail of each item of stock & can be 100% sure of what you are including in each train

Conbuilder can also display thumbnails.

Just hit the preview button.
If there is no thumbnail available, you can make one in Shape Viewer by hitting the yellow 3D button.
This has the advantage of being able to add freight animations by hitting Edit/Open Second shape.

The thumbnail will be added to the rolling stock folder.

Pete - Ive noticed that tenders appear in both carriage and freight sections in the consist editor section of the activity editor, and i, too, have had it jump from carriages to freight. I tend to use the one in the freight section now :)

Just a bit more of Kuju's sloppy programming, it would not have been all that difficult for the tenders to appear in the steam locos section where they should be. The tender files are clearly shown as being tenders in the Type statement in the .wag files. Maybe they will get it right in their new sim?

As for thumbnails, Route-Riter has the ability to produce thumbnails for every .eng/.wag file in your Trainset folder automatically, these can then be used in Conbuilder to view all of the rolling stock and consists.

Hi Mike !

I been thinking about this only yesterday. Would it possible to convert a tender .wag file to a powerless .eng file ?

Hi Otto,

Yes, but then you would have to change the engine itself to tender not required, and make sure the tender.eng was of type ( steam ) so that it appeared in the same place in the Activity Editor.

I have not tried this, but it should work.

Was fed up with this problem some time ago, so put all the tenders into the freight section, that is change ( Tender ) XXXXXX to ( Freight )
Takes a while to do but at least I know where they are now.

That will slow you down.

Any type freight in your train will display the slower speed limit where the author has used the differential speeds. Most do.

You will also be in danger of running out of coal and water and be unable to fill up.

Hi Mike !

I did not change the loco's "tender not required", changed the tender .wag file to .eng and it's Type to ( Engine), added some lines MSTS insisted upon like the Engine ( .... ) , Maxpower ( 0000hp ) and Type ( Steam ), etc and apart from the ConBuilder telling me that it was not a drivable engine all was well until I tried to run it in a route when MSTS complained about an error in a line in it's file.

Appears to be sections not bracketed properly although the bracket count matched, but lost interest finding out !

So I had another go just now and this time made no mistake and it worked running it in the route but the Activities Editor did not like it ! :(

There must be a bit more to it than that. If anybody would like to check iit out it's at: http://www.otto-wipfel.co.uk/downloads/tender-eng.zip :o
