DORSET COAST CD ACTIVITY

Post by Manty »

Good Afternoon One & All

Now my PC Is running OK (touch wood) again have reinstallec MSTS - Trainstore etc and the excellent Dorset Coast. Will put other routes back later on

All seems well with Dorset Coast and looks excellent, ran a couple of activities and they are fine, but with Esso Tanker Departure I haven't any external loco sounds for the Class 60. FPS are OK and sounds are reduced slightly. This problem hasn't occurred in other activities. Internal cab sounds are fine.

Should I reinstall the stock files from the CD or is it something else.

Kind Regards

Manty

Hi manty,

It could be because your sounds are turned down. Try moving the sounds quality up in the options and try it again.

I think this may solve your problem.

Let mw know how you get on :)

Many thanks.

Sometimes though, turning up the sounds level introduces other problems loading shapes / textures etc. Its all data which has to be loaded from the hard disk on a very scenic route. I would suggest searching for the sound channel fix supplied by Making Tracks, which increases the amount of channels available to supply sounds, and see if that work. There used to be a link somewhere but when i searched today i couldn't find it :( however there are some posts detailing the changes which you can make manually. Try a search using Sound AND Fix

Hi again

James - that worked OK and completed the activity fine.
Hope someone does some more Freight Activities !! Sadly at this time I don't have the wherewithall or the time - but maybe one day

Lad491 - will look for that fix you have mentioned, appreciate the thought.

Onward & Upwards - until the next time

Kind Regards

great - looking forward to that.
Just finished Desiro Failure - braking was decidedly difficult - overran quite a few times and had to use both engine brake and train brakes - just as well I was saving regularly.

Well must sign off now - washing up is calling

Hi
Being hopeless at driving activities,I tried channel boat train.
I moved the class 03 up into the headshunt.A couple of minutes later a class 33 arrived with two EMUs,and was held at the station approach signal.Nothing could or did move for 5 mins.
I could hear a class35 reving up somewhere.
I wonder if I'd moved the class 03 too early?....but the instructions were not clear.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Jon

John,

When you coupled up witht he stock in the station, did you load/unload the passengers? I did it and went to the headshunt, you do ahve to wait a bit though.

Ill run it fully when i get chance unless the author of the activity can anser before :)

many thanks

james

Hope someone does some more Freight Activities !!
I intend to extend my ESSO Tankers and later MOW activity to include the new track in v2, as soon as I can get it working.

Like James, I am also planning to create some more freight activities for this and other UK routes, just have to fit it round the day job though.

Hi
I clicked the link and noticed that mine was already at 200.
Skip ( Scalability 5 - Memory Guide 30M )
SoundTimer ( 5, 30, 5 )
AudioStream ( 5, 500, 100 )
SoundSystem ( 5, 200, 20, 31457280 )
TrainMinMaxDistance ( 5, 25.0, 1000.0 )
AmbientMinMaxDistance ( 5, 20.0, 1000.0 )
Rolloff ( 5, 1.0 )
That says to change number 5, but can the other numbers 1-4 be changed?
I have been getting "failed to load" messages sometimes on Dorset coast but after putting the sounds down a bit, it seems to have done the trick.

In a quiet moment this afternoon I started on a freight activity for V2. Currently its a bit boring just thrashing a 47 to death with a very heavy train up the gradients to Basingstoke for 2 hours :( Im looking to see if i can beef it up a bit. If it works out i'll upload it, otherwise it'll end up in the good idea but not worth the hassle pile. :(
